Dr Mzulungile Nodikida, Chief Executive Officer of the South African Medical Association (SAMA), works at the intersection of healthcare leadership, health systems management and organisational strategy. He is committed to advancing universal access to healthcare and supporting the development of sustainable health systems. His areas of expertise include global health systems, healthcare innovation, artificial intelligence in healthcare and strategic leadership.

Dr Nodikida holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Villa Clara in Cuba and a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA). He also holds an MBA from Rhodes University and an Executive Master of Public Health from Peking University in Beijing, China. These qualifications support his work in health policy, systems management and healthcare leadership.

Throughout his career, Dr Nodikida has led healthcare institutions and contributed to high-impact health initiatives. He has served on the Board of Directors of SAMA, where he was responsible for financial oversight, and played a key role in clinical operations at Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital. As the founder of several health-focused enterprises, he has worked to combine sound governance with community-centred care and innovation.

His expertise spans strategic leadership, health systems financing, artificial intelligence in healthcare, primary care, international health economics, change management and operational planning. He has experience in navigating complex healthcare environments and aligning public health goals with forward-looking organisational strategies. Dr Nodikida continues to advocate for equitable, high-performing healthcare systems across sectors.
