Dr Morley Nkosi

Dr Morley Nkosi

During a career spanning over 40 years as an academic, development economist and businessperson, Nkosi served as the First Consultant to the African Capacity Building Foundation (based in Zimbabwe), and as Director-General of the National African Federation of Chambers and Commerce (Nafcoc) in South Africa. He has also served on the boards of several South African companies in the mining, banking, healthcare and research sectors. He is a founding member of USA for Africa, and a past member of its advisory council.

During his academic career Nkosi served as tenured Associate Professor of Economics and Chair of the Department of Economics, Accounting and Business Administration (Uppsala College); Associate Professor of Economics and Director of Africana Studies (Hofstra University); Assistant Professor of Economics (Rutgers University Graduate School of Business); VC at the then University of the Transkei (now Walter Sisulu University of Technology & Science, Eastern Cape); and Chairperson of the National Institute for Economic Policy.

Nkosi is the author of publications on transnational corporations, the emergence of the labour structure in South Africa, the South African economy, American mining engineers in South Africa's deep-level mines, and economic integration in southern Africa.

He currently serves as Managing Associate of Morley Nkosi Associates, a firm of management and development consultants.
