The School of Interdisciplinary Research and Graduate Studies (SIRGS) has grown from a unit within the College of Graduate Studies to a recently established School.
Our vision, aligned to the facilitative role of the College of Graduate Studies within which the School is housed, is to provide a central hub where all Master’s and Doctoral students will be nurtured and supported and a vibrant intellectual space will be created for research innovation, debate and creative thinking.
SIRGS provides a supporting interdisciplinary academic environment for Master’s and Doctoral researchers registered in any of the colleges at Unisa. We arrange a variety of workshops dealing with research methodologies and other aspects of research, ranging from the very general to the more specialised, that are designed to fit the requirements of specific research areas. We also provide postgraduate supervision in a wide range of disciplines and pursue various research projects.
