Dr. Sefora Alice Mkuzangwe is a Director at the University of South Africa (UNISA), overseeing student admissions and operations for over 400,000 students. With more than 20 years of leadership in higher education, she is recognized for her expertise in academic governance, planning, and quality assurance. Dr. Mkuzangwe holds a Ph.D. in Education Management from UNISA, an MPhil from Stellenbosch University, and has completed advanced management programs at Harvard and UC Berkeley. Her research focuses on higher education policy, quality assurance, and student success in Open Distance Learning (ODL).
She has published widely, supervises Master’s students, and presents at national and international conferences. At UNISA, she has held key roles, including Acting Executive Director for Academic Planning and Director for Programme Accreditation. Dr. Mkuzangwe has contributed to national policy through work with the Council on Higher Education and the South African Qualifications Authority. Her achievements have earned her several awards, including the UNISA Women of the Year Award (2023). She remains active in international academic networks, with ongoing research in planning, policy, and quality assurance in higher education.
