Clearly not here to contribute productively; filenames of some previously deleted uploads look like legal threats towards Wikimedia. (I don't recall them looking especially credible, but even so...) Omphalographer (talk) 02:58, 21 June 2025 (UTC)

- The idea that an user could get permabanned banned for simply stating that a file is potentially libelous or defamatory towards the subject seems a bit too extreme. Maybe it's time to relax it a bit? Trade (talk) 12:27, 25 June 2025 (UTC)

Reason for reporting: Apparently a sockpuppet (Category:Sockpuppets of Saranphat chaiphet) created for block evasion, because this user has been trying to upload exactly the same copyright violation files which are related to Nan Province in the same manner as the socks in the mentioned category, not to mention that his username is also similar to the usernames of the socks in that category, such as PickOil (talk · contribs), Pickoil412 (talk · contribs), PickOil281994 (talk · contribs), PickOil9386 (talk · contribs), etc, which indicates their relationship.

Problem with permissions
Hi, I have been trying to update some of the icons for making maps, but keep getting a message to say I do not have permission to do that. (See Talk:BSicon/New icons and icon requests#Wide road bridge that obscures icons beneath it) User:Useddenim has suggested that any administrator should be able to fix that for me. - @Bob1960evens: Hi. I am sorry to inform you that you have triggered Special:AbuseFilter/290. The proposal to "Limit file overwriting to users with autopatrol rights" was accepted with many supports and one weak oppose 15:19, 23 September 2023 (UTC). After an implementation problem in phab:T345896 and testing, Special:AbuseFilter/290 went live with the Disallow action 09:35, 28 October 2023 (UTC). Please read MediaWiki:abusefilter-warning-file-overwriting. I am an active user of Japanese Wikipedia and have been concerned about Chikuwa1021's frequent problems with our community. I warned him several months ago not to upload problematic images here, but to no avail. Chikuwa1021 believes that all old images are copyright-free and belong to everyone, and that they can be freely distributed even if the website that hosts them claims copyright or does not explain the copyright. All images uploaded by Chikuwa1021 are without copyright permission. The Imperial Household Agency website states that the copyright of each piece of information posted is owned by the agency, and they request that if you would like permission to use an image, please contact the email address listed on the web page. https://www.kunaicho.go.jp/kunaicho/shinsei/kobunshokan.html Chikuwa1021 has taken File:高松城廉櫓・虎櫓.jpg and many other images from the Imperial Household Agency's website, but has not provided any evidence that each image has been given permission to be redistributed. In addition, many of the historical photographs owned by the Imperial Household Agency are clear and beautiful, and it is highly likely that they have been digitally altered. File:伏見宮邸.jpg was plagiarized from an article written by a university professor in an online media outlet. Some of the images, including this "File:東久邇宮邸.jpg", are from an anonymous historical blog run by an individual as a hobby, and it is unclear whether the images are genuine or the explanations are correct. Also, this blog does not write anything about copyright. File:石井家.jpg is a deposited material and is not provided under CC-BY. As far as I could tell, none of the images uploaded by Chikuwa1021 were problem-free. Chikuwa1021 has been warned by other people besides me, but his behavior has not improved. I don't know whether Chikuwa1021 understands the purpose of the rules or not. I think I should block Chikuwa1021 indefinitely. 呉野 (talk) 14:05, 27 June 2025 (UTC)

(2) Copyright violation - This user has been trying to upload copyvio files related to Nan province, which are exactly the same files as those uploaded by the socks in the mentioned category.

- @Thilo Parg: Hi. File:Spaghetti bridge.jpg is cascade-protected, due to being on the main page of Wikipedia in German, and thus the file description page can only be changed by Admins. This user has put numerous speedy deletion tags on files solely due to Freedom of Panorama concerns. See Commons:Deletion requests/File:Dushanbe Presidential Palace 01.jpg, Commons:Deletion requests/File:متحف برج الساعة.jpg, File:Panoramic capture of Burj Khalifa.jpg, File:Masjidil Haram (Umroh Ramadhan 2023)-10.jpg, File:Exterior of the Grand Mosque of Makkah, Saudi Arabia and the Clock Tower (52501896185).jpg, File:Makkah Clock Tower at night, Saudi Arabia (2) (52500920892).jpg, and many other examples in their user contributions. I pinged them the first time (Dushanbe Presidential Palace challenge to speedy deletion) to inform them of the policy, they didn't reply, and they are doing it again today. The speedy deletion tags all need to be changed to regular deletion request threads, and Menakei needs to be warned by an admin and blocked if they do this again.
