This media file has been nominated for deletion since 26 May 2025. To discuss it, please visit the nomination page.
Do not remove this tag until the deletion nomination is closed. Reason for the nomination: The source for the image is unclear, as is whether it actually shows Vincent de Groof. The page [1] (which I presume is where it came from, maybe following its mention here?) only says it's from the 19th century, but without saying where they got it from. I wouldn't necessarily trust that unless we can find the original newspaper article that showed it. I suppose it could be from some contemporary newspaper article, so looking through the archives at newspapers.com may be worthwhile.
I'm not sure if "public domain" applies in this case, since the image seems to be heavily edited (cleaned up, background removed, etc). Not to mention, as I said, that the source is unclear. A photo of the original can be found here -- again without a source, and without explicitly claiming that the image shows de Groof, but this may be where London-Overlooked got it from. In that case we possibly violate the copyright of whoever operates thelondonerd.com... | |||

Images that lack either of these two conditions should not use this template. Reasonable evidence must be presented that the author's name (e.g., the original photographer, portrait painter) was not published with a claim of copyright in conjunction with the image within 70 years of its original publication. Works which had not entered Public Domain in their country in 1996 that were uploaded before 1 March 2012 should be marked additionally with {{Not-PD-US-URAA}}.
