@El pibe de las mil letras If you didn't take the photograph, you can't claim to own the rights. Please ask the photographer to email the volunteer response team with the copyright statement (they can find specific instructions and a more detailed explanation at COM:VRT). Thank you. Adeletron 3030 (talk) 14:05, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@El pibe de las mil letras There's nothing I can do because your uploads have already been deleted (by an admin, not me). You're welcome to follow the steps described at COM:UNDEL and COM:VRT to restore your uploads. You can report me if you want, but I don't think you'll get anything out of it so you'll be wasting your time. Adeletron 3030 (talk) 16:17, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your overwrite of an Robert Kelly "mugshot" photo.[edit]

Here is the archived link to the original source of this "mugshot" photo. I added this link on the file's page.

https://web.archive.org/web/20230428013839/https://www.polksheriff.org/inmate/GetPhoto?bookYr=2002&bookNo=12192

Can you share the source link to the photo you used to overwrite of this file uploaded in 2022, please?

See here: File:R. Kelly 2002 Mugshot.jpg

Your overwritten image of this file, contains a number "1" on the lower left side of the photo, so your new image is different than the photo found on the Polk County Sheriff's Office's website.

"Substantial changes or completely unrelated files" are not allowed to overwrite existing images according to Commons:Overwriting existing files. Thanks, -- Ooligan (talk) 17:51, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Ooligan It's from https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/6059692/r-kelly-girl-texas-std-sex-cult/. I figured it was the same image with a much higher resolution but didn't catch the number 1 (I'm guessing it's part of the Getty Images watermark). What's the best way to proceed? Should I simply revert to the original or request a deletion of the latest version? Adeletron 3030 (talk) 18:13, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the link to the source. I went ahead and reverted your overwrite per Commons:Overwriting existing files.
I have question about your source for the "higher resolution" photo used to overwrite this file: File:R. Kelly mug shot.jpg. Can you please provide the link. Thank you again. -- Ooligan (talk) 19:23, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ooligan I think I grabbed it from https://www.seattlepi.com/news/slideshow/Photos-from-article-Timeline-of-R-Kelly-s-life-190763.php and cropped out the serial number at the bottom (and you can see the Getty Images info in the metadata). Adeletron 3030 (talk) 21:42, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalismo[edit]

@El pibe de las mil letras I have not deleted any of your messages. You can click on the red links for deleted images and see who deleted them. However, your uploads appear to come from the web. If you are the photographer, my suggestion is:
  1. Upload your original JPEGs instead of web downloads and screenshots.
  2. Follow the instructions at COM:VRT and email your proof of ownership and copyright release.

Question[edit]

How do I delete a photo that I uploaded? I'm asking this as I'm wanting to delete the file Ihmir Smith-Marsette (cropped).jpg ReallyAmazingDude13 (talk) 20:53, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@ReallyAmazingDude13 For this particular image, you don’t have to do anything because it’ll be deleted soon because of copyright issues. But if you want to speed up the process, you can copy and paste the following code to the file: {{Db-author}} and an admin will delete it. Adeletron 3030 (talk) 00:15, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Done, I have added it in the file that I am requesting to delete ReallyAmazingDude13 (talk) 02:01, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How do I dispute a copyright issue? The image is open for public use[edit]

An image I have uploaded is being flagged for copyright but it is free to use 150.210.231.47 15:30, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You'll have to give me more information. Which specific image are you talking about? Anyway, most of what you find online is copyrighted. "Public use", i.e. anyone can view, isn't the same thing as copyright free, meaning anyone is free to distribute, modify and publish, use it as part of a commercial product, etc. But the best thing you can do is contact the person who tagged the image for deletion (that might be me!). Adeletron 3030 (talk) 15:41, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@El pibe de las mil letras Hi, I already responded to you on your talk page. A couple of things you can do:
  1. Email COM:VRT from your work email so the volunteer response team can see that you work for the club.
  2. Submit a copyright release statement from the club
  3. Upload the original high res photos—you have been uploading web quality low res and screenshots.

No son capturas de pantalla... El pibe de las mil letras (talk) 13:18, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@El pibe de las mil letras Are you sure? Because File:Adrianarkero.png and File:Tororojas.jpg look pretty terrible not to be a screenshot and there's some weird cropping with File:Josenicogonalez.jpg and File:Lucianopascual2023.jpg.
Anyway, whether they're screenshots or not, you should upload the high-res photos from your camera instead of uploading compressed low-res photos from the web or social media. Adeletron 3030 (talk) 13:22, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@El pibe de las mil letras I don't understand why you can't just upload photos that don't look like web/social media downloads or follow the directions at COM:VRT. I've given you the information you need to prevent your uploads from being deleted. Please stop messaging me here if you're going to just ignore my suggestions.
  • To prevent your images from being deleted, follow the steps at COM:VRT and submit a copyright statement showing that you took these photographs, you work for the club, and you're forfeiting your rights as the photographer.
  • To have images undeleted, start a request at COM:UNDEL.
Please leave me alone unless you're going to do one or both of the above. Adeletron 3030 (talk) 14:39, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The work is not derivative! I was at the stadium and I took the photo myself! It's a photo of a soccer game! There is no derivative work! Alecio-cnmd (talk) 11:52, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
