[edit]Dear Sir @Pigsonthewing, I am very disappointed that some of my copyrighted and even discussed photos have been unfairly deleted. I believe that the person who submitted the nomination did this out of prejudice against my photos. Please help me restore my photos.

- Your first step should be to ask the admin (or admins) who deleted them to reconsider their decisions. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:30, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

- As a minor detail, your attribution of Fred's portrait is that of your source, the original is in the Board Room of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Birdcage Walk, London. The Artist was Reg Main, their Senior Assistant Secretary at the time (mid 1960s - he rose to become their Director of R&D by the end of his career. A draughtsman by training, he was Fred's last understudy, joining the Mechanicals on demobilisation in 1946, and was reluctantly persuaded to paint the portrait from memory, as it was discovered on his death that the old boy had studiously avoided the camera and no photos were known. That the painting captured his mentor's character is testified to by the subsequent recognition of him in the background of a number of photos of group social activities. It is sometimes surmised that this was the other way around, but I can affirm to the contrary, having been present throughout the work, in our living room at home: I'm Reg's oldest son. 90.207.93.204 01:55, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
- You might contact the Lanchester Archive at Coventry University and tell them this. I'm sure they will be interested. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 18:33, 26 May 2025 (UTC)

Cropping advice
[edit]File:Native American woman known as Skak-Ish-Stin wearing Hudson's Bay Co blanket and labret in lower lip, Alaska, ca 1904 (NOWELL 85).jpeg is a historical photo with a lot of white space on each side. Do you think it would be okay to crop it? It looks to me like a scan that accidentally happened to include more than the original photo, but maybe I've missed something. WhatamIdoing (talk) 21:54, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
- Agreed. I've cropped to the edge of the original print. As that's an archival object, any further cropping should be done as a derivative. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 09:59, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
- That looks great. Thank you. WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:09, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
