Call for applications: IAEA Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Programme

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has opened the above call for applications.   

Background

Widely known as the world’s "Atoms for Peace and Development" organisation within the United Nations family, the IAEA is the international centre for cooperation in the nuclear field. The Agency works with its member states and multiple partners worldwide to promote the safe, secure and peaceful use of nuclear technologies. 

Since its launch in 2020, the MSCFP has helped 210 women from 93 countries with scholarships to study towards a master’s degree in nuclear-related subjects. To date, 49 students have already completed their studies and most have embarked on an internship opportunity facilitated by the IAEA or have continued on to PhD studies or professional careers.  

The MSCFP aims to help increase the number of women in the nuclear field, supporting an inclusive workforce of both men and women who contribute to, and drive, global scientific and technological innovation. Named after pioneer physicist and twice Nobel Prize laureate Marie Sklodowska-Curie, the programme aims to inspire and encourage young women to pursue a career in the nuclear field by providing scholarships for master’s programmes and the opportunity to pursue an internship facilitated by the IAEA. IAEA member countries, inter-governmental and governmental organisations and private sector partners have supported the programme with financial and in-kind contributions.

Value of award

The students are awarded up to €20,000 for tuition costs and up to €20,000 for living costs for living costs for the master’s programme.

Application process  

Those who meet the eligibility criteria are invited to apply using the IAEA MSCFP online application form. 

The documents required in addition to the completed online application form are as follows:

• Copy of passport/national ID
• Official acceptance/admission letter from university into the master’s programme indicating the nuclear related field of study and duration of the programme
• Statement of tuition fees/confirmation of tuition costs
• Completed reference forms sent directly to MSCFP@iaea.org by TWO referees (download the form here).

NOTE: All application documents must be submitted in English using the MSCFP online application form. If documents are submitted in original language, please also include official translation in English. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
