Careers fair showcases opportunities in agriculture, environmental science, and SET

On Thursday, 24 April 2025, the Counselling and Career Development Department in Unisa’s Gauteng Region hosted a careers fair that brought together students, professionals and industry leaders in the fields of agriculture, environmental science, and science, engineering and technology (SET). The event provided a valuable platform for attendees to explore diverse career paths, to network with experts and to gain insights into current trends and developments in these fields.

Attendees had the chance to experience welding first-hand

The fair highlighted a wide range of opportunities in agriculture and environmental science, including careers in sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation and scientific research. Industry experts shared their experience and offered practical advice to students and aspiring professionals interested in pursuing careers in these fields.

The SET sector was equally well represented, drawing strong interest from attendees. One of the highlights of the fair was a demonstration of an electrical machine used in branding processes for companies like Coca-Cola. Another standout attraction was a welding demonstration, where attendees had the chance to wear welding gear and to experience welding first-hand. These practical demonstrations provided students with a tangible glimpse into real-world industry applications.

The event was a resounding success, offering attendees a unique opportunity to engage directly with experts and to explore future career options.
