Today we celebrate 150 years of Unisa. I believe Unisa must be seen in the same way as the Freedom Charter. Just as it seeks to outline the country's aspirational principles of equality and freedom for all, Unisa has also allowed access to education for all, and it continues to do so today. This institution has produced many people who are global leaders. Just as Deputy President, Paul Mashatile said in his address, many of our politicians, including him, studied through Unisa while he was in prison. Unisa is a university for all.

Sindiso Nhlabathi, Deputy Chairperson Unisa Communication Students Association (COMSA)

To this mega university, congratulations on 150 years of continuously reclaiming Africa's intellectual future. We look forward to the next 150 years of building Africa's knowledge systems.

Thokozani Zwane, Unisa Radio

Unisa inspires me very much. It is an excellent opportunity to be affiliated with an institution of this calibre. While I recently joined the university, it has already positively impacted my life. I wish the university a happy birthday and cheers to many more years.

The university's 150th celebration was marvellous, and we enjoyed it. I enjoyed seeing people come together as one and wish for the university to continue bringing people together similarly in the future.

Koketso Machaka, Unisa Foundation

Happy birthday to Unisa. I have worked at Unisa since 2022 and am also studying at the university towards my Bachelor of Education in Senior Phase and Further Educational and Training. I am grateful for these opportunities. Cheers to another 150 years of impacting lives.

Katlego Pilane, College of Human Sciences, Department of Psychology

The birthday celebration was vibrant and lively; we enjoyed ourselves. I love that the university hosted the event with all its regions. Cheers to more blissful and successful years for the continent's most important university. I appreciate that the university can accommodate students from disadvantaged backgrounds and expose them to new teaching and learning modalities. I wish all the students a successful year going forward.

Happiness Mabasa, Unisa alumni

I graduated from Unisa in 2021 with a Communication Science degree. The university's anniversary celebration was fantastic. Unisa has always been the driving force of education, and I look forward to returning for my Honours degree — cheers to 150 years and many more.
