Her journey inspired many as Khanyile walked the stage and received her degree. Though she was raised in a home where education wasn't always readily accessible, she found herself drawn to the path of learning. She was motivated by the example set by her mother, a woman of remarkable strength and resilience.

Despite the challenges of balancing familial responsibilities and work commitments, she embarked on her educational journey at Unisa, drawn by the flexibility and accessibility of distance learning. Juggling her studies with her job at the Harry Gwala Regional Hospital, she utilised every spare moment, often dedicating her days off to completing assignments and furthering her education.

Nursing is her passion, a calling that resonates deeply with her compassionate heart. Throughout her studies, she remained steadfast in her commitment to serving others, especially during the trying times of the pandemic. As a frontline worker, she faced the daunting task of caring for patients while grappling with fears and uncertainties. Yet, in the face of adversity, she remained resolute, guided by the noble pledge of putting patients' lives above all else.

Reflecting on her journey, Khanyile offers words of encouragement to other students, urging them not to lose sight of their dreams, no matter how daunting the obstacles may seem. "The sky is the limit," she emphasises, a mantra she has lived by since her days as a domestic worker earning a meagre income to support her family after her father's passing.

Today, she is a beacon of hope and perseverance for her family and the community. As the director and founder of the Xolaningi Private Clinic in Pietermaritzburg, she continues to make strides in her profession, with aspirations to pursue further studies and attain a PhD in Nursing.
