The Unisa autumn graduation ceremonies commenced on Wednesday, 22 March 2023, in Muckleneuk Campus. The Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Puleng LenkaBula, chaired Pretoria's first series of graduations.
This year's ceremonies will run until 8 June 2023 and will be hosted in seven regions: Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, East London, Mbombela, Polokwane and Bloemfontein.
"Overall, there are 87 ceremonies scheduled for this autumn series," says Balmakund Vinesh from Unisa's Graduation Division. Approximately 35 000 students will be graduating.
Unisa's Chancellor and former President, Thabo Mbeki, will officiate at the graduation ceremonies held on 29 March 2023 in Pretoria at 6 PM. On 15 April, Mbeki will be in Mbombela, and he is scheduled for Durban on 8 June at 6 PM.
LenkaBula says: "Graduations are the hallmark and pinnacle of trajectories that students follow in the life-long pursuit of wisdom and knowledge in the various degrees they undertake at Unisa— Universities showcase students' successes and completion of the educational and research processes through graduation ceremonies." She adds: "They attest to the investments in talents, expertise, research and knowledge resources of the various academics, professional and administrative staff who contribute to comprehensive sets of academic outcomes that underscore the quality-driven completion of studies."
Unisa's graduation ceremonies are vital in reaffirming students and giving them meaningful recognition for academic success.
