In the past months, Unisa’s Department of Institutional Advancement embarked on a continental campaign to recruit master’s and doctoral students across Africa. The campaign started in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and was followed by stops in Eastern and Southern Africa. Most recently, a communication and marketing team attended the Windhoek Agricultural and Livestock Show in Namibia, which ran from 23 September to 01 October 2022. The recruitment drive is part of the university's internationalisation program. It helps Unisa realise its vision to be a truly African university in the service of humanity.

A team of communication and marketing practitioners from various colleges attended the show.

Following interaction between a Unisa delegate and an embassy staffer at the show, the South African High Commissioner to Namibia, Ambassador Thenjiwe Mtintso, hosted the Unisa team on Wednesday, 28 September 2022.

Ambassador Mtintso expressed her appreciation of Unisa's presence in Windhoek and impressed on her guests her desire for Unisa and other South African universities to deepen their relationship with their Namibian counterparts.

She further said Unisa could help strengthen the Pan-African agenda and 'spirit' among its students and academics through an exchange programme in partnership with sister African universities.

At the show, the Unisa team interacted with Unisa alumni, who expressed their appreciation for the possibilities Unisa afforded them. Moreover, the team interacted with current and prospective students, who needed information on how to register for undergraduate and post-graduate programs.

Most notably, visitors to the Unisa stand repeatedly requested the university to open a Namibian office in Windhoek.
