Unisa takes information sessions to Tanzania and Zambia

Stakeholders at the Dar es Salaam National Central Library express gratitude to team Unisa for the visit

The internationalisation drive on the African continent by Unisa continues in several countries across the continent.

The university recently hosted student recruitment drives in Tanzania and Zambia. The information sessions linked to the 2023 applications drive took place in Dar es Salaam and Lusaka, respectively. In addition, two teams from the university visited both countries on the same dates, 23 and 24 September 2022, to provide information to stakeholders on qualifications and student support offered by Unisa with a specific focus on post-graduate studies.

The Unisa team that attended the Dar es Salaam leg of the drive comprised representatives from the Department of Institutional Advancement, College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, College of Economics and Management Sciences, and the College of Law. As a university that encourages lifelong learning, upon arrival at the host hotel, the Unisa team did not take long before they recruited other patrons at the hotel to take up learning opportunities at Unisa. The interaction was followed by a visit to the National Library in the same city of Dar es Salaam, where they held an information session about Unisa’s programmes and support services with secondary school learners and post-school education adults.

The Thabo Mbeki School of Public and International Affairs joined the Department of Institutional Advancement and colleges in the Lusaka drive. The team continued their efforts to share Unisa programmes with prospective students. In addition, they also made engagements with the Zambian Aquaculture Cooperative Society and other government entities.

Central to the university’s quest for internationalisation, marketing drives on the African continent have become a necessary tool for engagement with prospective students, alumni, and other stakeholders in areas outside South Africa.
