Unisa hosts successful Open Day in Zimbabwe

Sipho Ntanjana, Kgothatso Mojela and Ellen Mofokeng from the Department of Institutional Advancement

To expand Unisa's footprint on the African continent and across the world, the Marketing Unit within the Department of Institutional Advancement, along with all eight colleges in the university, including the School of Business Leadership and the Thabo Mbeki African School of Public and International Affairs, recently hosted an Open Day in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The central objective for the event was to facilitate robust interaction between Unisa representatives and prospective and current students, where students would receive first-hand career guidance and student support. Multiple students were assisted with various enquiries ranging from undergraduate to postgraduate information.

Among those who attended the Open Day was 78-year-old Godfrey Mutsago, who graduated with a BA in Media Studies from Unisa. The proud Mutsago shared how his Unisa degree has impacted him and his community. He explained that his qualification had enabled him to open a newspaper organisation that has allowed him to take part in solving the youth unemployment crisis. Mutsago said he was looking forward to adding another Unisa alumni to his family by encouraging his son to enrol with the university.

Elena Swanepoel (CGS Postgraduate), Godfrey Mutsago (Unisa alumnus), Penny Ngcobo (CGS Postgraduate) and Sipho Ntanjana (Department of Institutional Advancement).
