Student leaders, public servants, an outstanding disabled student and PhDs – the North-Eastern Region’s class of 2018 was variety personified.
The ceremony took place at Bolivia Lodge over a period of two days. It was the second graduation ceremony for the region, the first having been held in Nelspruit earlier. Unisa prides itself on being accessible to all South Africans and international students, providing all with quality world-class qualifications. In 2018, we saw a great group that reflected the diversity of South Africa and the capacity of Unisa to accommodate this diversity.
Among the graduates was the Member of Executive Council (MEC) in Limpopo for Sport, Arts and Culture, Ms Mokgobedi Onica Moloi, who graduated with a BA in Political Science. Three student leaders graduated, inspiring fellow students and other leaders within the student body to keep striving for excellence.
A disabled student, Ms KG Thamaga, graduated with a BTech in Forensic Investigation. To round off this inspiring group, we had one graduate receiving a PhD in Education. In closing, Unisa Principal and Vice-Chancellor Professor Mandla Makhanya had this to say: ‘We welcome you all to the group of Unisa alumni and we are very proud of you. May you all go out and change our beautiful country with your hard-earned qualifications’.
