Dr. Newman Tekwa (PhD) is a post-doctoral research fellow at the South African Research Chair in Social Policy (UNISA) under its extended research theme ‘Social Policy Dimensions of Land and Agrarian Reform in International Perspective. Dr. Tekwa has a passion for collaborative research and takes a gender transformative social policy lens in land and agrarian reforms, water sector reforms, homelessness and recently in peace, security and conflict studies. Presently, Dr. Tekwa is a Lead researcher within the Gender Equitable and Transformative Social Policy in Africa (GETSPA) project covering 31 countries across continent and convenes the Southern Africa GETSPA Reading Group covering the 15 SADC member states. In addition to this, Dr. Tekwa is the Team Lead for the Engaged Scholarship and Community Outreach Research Project, Child Homelessness in Tshwane located within the collaborative research project, Pathways out of Homelessness, between the City of Tshwane, University of South Africa, University of Pretoria and the Tshwane Homelessness Forum. Recently, Dr. Tekwa developed a passion in research ethics and integrity and in an active member of Southern African Research Innovation and Management Association (SARIMA).
