The Unisa Innovation Festival is back – and it is even bigger and better
If you are an innovation leader or aspire to become one, then Unisa's Directorate of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Commercialisation (DITTC) looks forward to hosting you at the 2023 Unisa Innovation Festival. This year the Directorate co-hosts the festival with the Colleges of Graduate Studies; Science, Engineering and Technology; and Agriculture and Environmental Sciences.
Taking place from 27 November to 1 December 2023, the Unisa Innovation Festival is a valuable opportunity to learn about the latest innovation trends at the University, discuss broad trends in innovation, research and collaboration, and build partnerships within the innovation ecosystem.
The event follows the success of Unisa's first Innovation Festival in 2022 and promises to be even bigger and better than the inaugural event. It is being held over a full week instead of only three days and at two Unisa venues, namely the Senate Hall in Pretoria and the Science Campus in Roodepoort.
The theme of the festival is "The future of innovation: accelerating impact through collaboration", which will be debated and discussed in keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops and networking platforms led by innovation leaders from academia, government, NGOs, funding agencies, social entrepreneurship ventures and private sector organisations involved in innovation.
Topics will include the funding landscape for technology innovations and the role of innovation in higher education in the development of the country.
In one of the most exciting features of the upcoming festival, staff and student inventors will present their innovations and showcase their startups. An awards ceremony will be held for innovators and entrepreneurs who are well on their way towards turning great ideas into ready-for-market solutions.
Attendance is open – space allowing – to everyone in the innovation community, including researchers and academics, investors, social and business entrepreneurs, and Unisa staff and students. Please register early to avoid disappointment.
Registration is free. Delegates only need to bring an open mind and the spirit of curiosity.
