File:Sign for The Queens Arms, Main Street - geograph.org.uk - 1245259.jpg[edit]

This file was initially tagged by Rodhullandemu as Copyvio (copyvio) and the most recent rationale was: COM:DW of painting of coat of arms.
Converted by me to regular DR to allow for discussion whether the depicted COA isn'l old enough to be out of copyright. -- Túrelio (talk) 07:54, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

Symbol delete vote.svg Delete The problem is not the CoA itself; the heraldic description is probably old enough to be public domain by reason of age. The problem, as with any pub sign, is the artist/painter's rendition of the CoA, which as a creative work is copyrighted by default. We would need to show either (a) the painting is out of copyright by reason of its age (we don't know when the sign was painted, but it's likely to be less than 70 years ago), or (b) the painting has been released free of copyright or with a licence acceptable to Commons (unlikely), or (c) the sign is 3D and the photograph is protected by {{FOP-UK}}. I don't believe an invitation to contact OTRS would yield any results. I know we have many pub signs, but that does not mean we can legally host them. At the very least we should apply COM:PRP.
