I'd say it's Likely. Blocked (999 years since I can't do indefs on my phone) and will tag soon. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 00:14, 26 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@The Squirrel Conspiracy: Thanks! I hope you find a solution to your "I can't do indefs on my phone" problem. Personally, I like to use desktop mode in Chrome on my Android phone when editing Commons on that phone (despite all the scrolling and orientation switching (landscape for looking, portrait for typing due to the screen real estate my keyboard takes) that entails).   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 10:01, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There's no scroll on that drop down, so I just don't typically block on my phone. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 19:48, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Request to review repeated deletion actions by EugeneZelenko and Netora

Dear administrators,

I would like to report what I believe is a case of misuse of deletion privileges or repeated misunderstanding of local copyright laws by the users User:EugeneZelenko and User:Netora.

They have repeatedly deleted my uploaded files without properly reviewing the Japanese-language descriptions and licensing statements, even though I clearly explained that the photos were either:

  • Taken by myself (original work), or
  • Public domain under Japanese copyright law (e.g. 70 years rule, official documents, etc.)

Example deleted files:

I have tried to clarify the licensing in Japanese and also included standard license templates like {{Own}}, {{Cc-by-4.0}}, etc. Nonetheless, the deletions continued.

I believe these users are not giving sufficient consideration to language or local law, which is causing unnecessary harm. Please investigate this issue and consider any appropriate action, including warnings or blocks if warranted.

Thank you. カトーポッポー (talk) 09:49, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Dear administrators,
I would like to report a concerning pattern of behavior by User:Netora, who has repeatedly attempted to delete files I uploaded, without properly reviewing the file descriptions written in Japanese.
One serious example is:
  • File:Masao Tachiki.png — This is an image created by me, as clearly stated in the description: "これは私が作成した著作物です" ("This is a work created by me"). I also included an appropriate license tag.
Despite this, Netora attempted to nominate the file for deletion without acknowledging or understanding the provided licensing and authorship information.
This is not the first time. I have encountered multiple instances where they:
  • Ignored Japanese-language explanations of authorship and copyright,
  • Failed to engage in discussion or respond to my explanations,
  • Repeatedly reverted my edits without reading the content.
I believe this behavior constitutes a disregard for proper deletion procedure and local-language content, and it places non-English speakers at a disadvantage. I kindly request that this be reviewed and that administrators take appropriate action if necessary.
Thank you for your attention. カトーポッポー (talk) 09:55, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like you still do not understand how public domain images should be tagged and described. Please read Commons:Essential information and Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Japan carefully. Also I explained this already on your talk page. EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:51, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Block request for User:TSCKuwait

TSCKuwait (talk · contributions · Move log · block log · uploads · Abuse filter log Uploading photos solely for spamming on other wikis. Already blocked on enwiki, itwiki and Meta. I tagged all uploads for deletion. 📅 13:55, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

ː Comment I disagree with your rationale. I took a brief look at 2 photos and they are good quality and potentially useful. Gbawden (talk) 14:13, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Gbawden The user is currently nominated a lock on SRG. Other than that some photos are dups (File:World of Science TSCK.jpg and File:World of Science.jpg) and others are without metadata. I think those with metadata should be retained. 📅 14:25, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I deleted speedily three photos: one as scaled-down duplicate and two due to no freedom of panorama in Kuwait. Taivo (talk) 16:18, 29 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Block request for User:AcornPond

AcornPond (talk · contributions · Move log · block log · uploads · Abuse filter log User has been repeatedly engaged in edit warring over the past few months and has used uncivil language. In each instance, they have argued in the edit summary using data from a website called Dave Leips, even though the source of the file is the secretary of state, or claimed that they didn't like the colors cause they weren't the "proper ones". When discussions were initiated on the talk pages of the files, the user refused to participate and continued to revert the files, despite being pinged in most cases. This behavior can be seen in one of the Texas, Utlah, Colorado, and Georgia files. The issue was also raised on their user talk page, but they again refused to answer and continued reverting.

Also mentioned in that talk disscussion, which can be seen in many of their edit summaries, is the use of what I'd uncivil, what another user described as threatening, language usually along the lines of "Don’t ever undo this edit again" or "Stop reverting".

This pattern of behavior demonstrates that the user is not deserving of their revision rights and is likely to continue engaging in counter-productive edit warring in the future.

I'll also note that the user is indefinitly banned on english wikipedia.

Potentially concerned parties: @Abzeronow: , @Thomascampbell123: , @OutlawRun: Wowzers122 (talk) 15:35, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Support If they're already banned on English Wikipedia, this should be a no-brainer. Their edits have been pretty exclusively disruptive. OutlawRun (talk) 16:13, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Support This user hasn't even tried to find a consensus on which sources to use and therefore their edits are not productive. Dave Leip's Atlas also sometimes has data errors that cause some of their results to be incorrect. If there is an official results report from the state, that should be relied on over Dave Leip's Atlas in all cases.

✓ Done Blocked indefinitely as a precaution. I notice that the WP block was also linked to a sock investigation Gbawden (talk) 07:03, 29 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Looked into the SPI at enwiki. Sock master of that investigation is TylerKutschbach who is blocked here as LTA and AcornPond is confirmed to it. So the indefinite block is justified for block evasion. --Lymantria (talk) 10:40, 29 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Anton77u (talk · contributions · Move log · block log · uploads · Abuse filter log - all of his uploads since his joining in 2023 were deleted. Repeated copyvio upload offender

Hello, Arseniy Filippov (talk · contributions · Move log · block log · uploads · Abuse filter log has a talk page filled with missing-permission-templates. I took a look at the remainder of his live uploads (at the time of writing), none looks acceptable (being either proven NETCOPYVIOs or doubtful "own works", will nominate them for speedies afterwards). While he wasn't formally warned, I think that the sheer amount of notifying templates about impending deletions should have made him aware of the issues he produced. I feel that he's objectively en:WP:NOTHERE to enhance Commons. Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 18:38, 30 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
