Statistical Support
The Stats Support office provides a statistical consultation service to all registered postgraduate students. The service provides guidance on selection and utilisation of appropriate design and methods for collection and statistical analysis of data. The sessions are held through MS Teams.
The support provided covers all phases of the research
Research design phase
Support provided:
- Guidance on appropriate research design to address the research questions of the study.
- Sample selection strategy and sample size estimation to ensure that the sample is sufficient to address the objectives project/study
- Guidance on appropriate data collection strategy
- Questionnaire and data analysis plan review
Pre-requisites:
- Proof registration
- Draft proposal
- Completed consultation form
Data collection phase
Support provided:
- Questionnaire review if not already done at research design phase
- Check that all the variables of interest in the study are correctly measured
- Ensure that the data collection instrument is designed to enhance data management

Data capturing
Support provided:
- Practical data capture demonstration in SPSS to ensure that data is captured in a manner that facilities data analysis

Data analysis
Support provided
- Practical SPSS data analysis session(s) on implementation of appropriate data analysis methods in line with the research objectives
