Professor Uchenna Nkiruka Udeani holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology (B.Sc.) and a PhD in Science Education from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She is a Professor of Science Education and the current Director of the Distance Learning Institute (DLI) of the University of Lagos in Nigeria.
Her area of research interest is conceptual learning relating to the use of prior conceptions and adaptive cognition in measuring the learning of science concepts. She has a special interest in the underrepresentation of girls and women in STEM disciplines and has developed a Gender Inclusive Instructional Strategy for use in secondary schools to help more girls learn science.
The seasoned scholar belongs to several professional organizations including the National Association for Research in Science Teaching, Organisation of Women in Science for the Developing World, African Women in Science and Engineering, Science Teachers Association of Nigeria, Phi Delta Kappa to mention a few.
