Note that I have blocked GifTagger[edit]
Hi. I have within the past while blocked the bot User:GifTagger. I have left a note about why at User talk:GifTagger#Blocked GifTagger for the tasks that it is doing has not been communicated with sister wiki that it is affecting. In short, I believe that it is operating outside the community scope as applies to sister wikis, outside of the deletion policy, and outside of the request scope of which it was granted to run. — billinghurst sDrewth 08:34, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
Category:Language templates with no text displayed[edit]
The above files have some issues and show up in Category:Language templates with no text displayed category. I think it is some issue with User:99of9/SLNSW_metadata_template. Do you think you can edit files or the template to remove the warning. --Jarekt (talk) 12:42, 4 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note - apparently the html scraping didn't work properly for those, I'll fill them in manually. --99of9 (talk) 23:45, 4 February 2015 (UTC)
MeerderBot[edit]
Hello 99of9, I don't know the procedure on Commons, so I will try it this way. In the beginning of 2014 you gave my bot MeerderBot permission to run: Commons:Bots/Requests/MeerderBot. As I don't want to run this bot any longer and changed my password to something random, I don't have any access to this account anymore. Could you please remove the botflag/status or tell me what to do? Thanks --Meerdervoort (talk) 15:04, 15 February 2015 (UTC) @Meerdevoort: ok, I have removed the bot flag. Thanks. --99of9 (talk) 00:16, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

Problem[edit]
Hello, I have found a problem here:https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Har_Dov
It has the category "International boundary of Israel".
The area is between the occupied Golan and Lebanon and is obviously not an international boundary of Israel. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 22:59, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
- The double categorization you have done looks fine. But please don't remove the "boundary of Israel" cat. --99of9 (talk) 00:14, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
Re: Pushing this policy into full effect[edit]
Hi. I just thought that keeping those open like that would only confuse new readers, and would eventually just swamp the discussion with unnecessary comments and explanations... But yes, I agree with your point. Kind regards, Rehman 10:27, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
- It might confuse some, but if you directly answer simply and clearly, they should understand. --99of9 (talk) 10:32, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
- True... Rehman 10:39, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
- It's just getting weirder (my reply). Can I ask you to restore the collapse templates please? Any fresh person reading the discussion wont bother thinking deeper with all those meaningless for-sake-of-pile-on opposes... Rehman 01:14, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
- No, sorry, I can't - that is not how policy discussions on commons go. FWIW both the wikitable and the early implementation did have codes in them. If you don't want them in, then you should make that clear under the table, or modify the table itself. --99of9 (talk) 09:39, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
- The wikitable and the recent modification to the link you provided were not created/done by me. The wikitable was a quick thing LX made to illustrate the content (s/he used the codes just to match the entries). Where as the diff you provided was reversed by the same user. Rehman 11:39, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
- Agreed, but the table is part of the conversation, and the oppose is fair enough if the table is the current example implementation of the proposal. The diff was only reversed because I *uncollapsed* the opposes. That's exactly why we should not collapse them - to ensure that implementation does not happen until everyone is on the same page about what/whether it will be implemented. --99of9 (talk) 11:58, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions![edit]
Hi Toby,
I'm listening right now to your narration of the Zinc article. I'm curious, what drives you to put such tremendous effort into contributing to Wikipedia?
Thank you, Dandv (talk) 01:11, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
@Dandv: You're welcome. It comes down to loving my neighbour, here through sharing my education, and Wikipedia allows that on quite a large scale. The spoken articles were an experiment for me: I can see that they may be of value especially to the vision impaired, but I was concerned that the articles would change too much with time to justify the effort of recording a single revision. But I figured it might be worthwhile on an important and stable Featured Article. In the end it gets a few hits a day (~1 in 500 readers), so I guess it is useful to some degree. --99of9 (talk) 02:10, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
- Interesting, so was the initial motivation religious in nature? Thanks again BTW :) -- Dandv (talk) 05:09, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Dandv: No. I try out new stuff all the time to see what it's like. My first content edit was this embarrassing overlinking. --99of9 (talk) 07:13, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

Uploading some SLNSW photographs using GW Upload toolkit[edit]
Hi Toby,
I'm at a workshop at the British Library with User:Ldenoon (Louise Denoon), a senior curator from SLNSW, where we're exploring the use of the GW Toolkit uploader.
The image set we were going to work on is collection 412050 "Sydney - photographs of streets, public buildings, views in the Harbour, suburbs etc., chiefly pre 1885", http://acms.sl.nsw.gov.au/item/itemdetailpaged.aspx?itemid=412050
We were going to use the metadata file at http://data.gov.au/dataset/photographs-of-sydney-before-1885 -- but this is a lot less complete that the metadata on the actual SLNSW page that your scraper accesses; also because of the tool limitations we may not be able to use your very nice template.
Is it okay for us to go ahead on this, or was this a collection you had in your sights that you were looking forward to doing yourself? Jheald (talk) 10:29, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
- Plus is there anything we should particularly be aware of, in the content structures, naming conventions, etc for SLNSW that you've created? Jheald (talk) 10:31, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Jheald: Thanks for contacting me! Is @Ldenoon: in contact with @Rubicon49bce: and @Mcarneyaus: (or @Aliaretiree:)? They are the main points of contact for w:Wikipedia:GLAM/State_Library_of_New_South_Wales. But anyway, on to the task at hand: can I ask, is the prime purpose for practice with GWT, to get the content, or as the first step of big future upload volumes from SLNSW? If the first - then a smaller set would probably be better to start with, if the second - I could scrape and upload it within 24 hours according to the existing format if it helps, if the third - I'd suggest very very careful advance planning to get the ideal maximal outcome for every image (preferably matching up with the existing template or better). Regarding me scraping, I hadn't noticed this set yet, but it does look like a useful one. I've paused my SLNSW uploads recently because I have not been doing auto-categorization well and think I can do better, but for a medium-sized set like this, categorization by cat-a-lot wouldn't be too bad. The naming convention should be clear from Category:SLNSW_media_uploaded_by_User:99of9. Regarding structures, I think it's important to keep them connected to their "album" and "collection", so note how I've been doing it in Category:Images_from_the_State_Library_of_NSW. --99of9 (talk) 11:03, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
- The workshop organiser has just suggested that if you have a scraper that can read the info from the SLNSW description pages into flat files, that we can then turn into XML and run through the Toolkit uploader, that might be a really good way to go forward. Meanwhile we'll start experimenting with baby steps on Commons beta, learning how to go from a flat file to XML, and then how to put that through the Toolset. Jheald (talk) 10:50, 12 May 2015 (UTC)

Use of image[edit]
We would like to use this image https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Coral_Outcrop_Flynn_Reef.jpg on some promotional material for our club (which is an saltwater aquarium reefkeeping club) which is a 501c3 NPO.
How, specifically, do we need to attribute this to you both on digital and on print? It's going to be for promoting an event.
Do I just have to put your name on the image/flyer? Something like

Smokybrown Cockroach[edit]
Dear Toby,
I would like to use the image entitled "Smokybrown cockroach Periplaneta fuliginosa in suburban Sydney, NSW, Australia" which you contributed to a Wikipedia article about the insect.
A friend of mine is self-publishing a short fictional story (maximum 50 copies) about Welsh coal mining entitled "Out of their Depth" and a cockroach features in the story. I am designing the book cover for him and he would like to use your image on the back cover.
If, with your permission, we do use it, what exact wording would you like for the attribution?
Looking forward to your reply on this page.
With many thanks,

De-adminship warning[edit]
Dear 99of9, I am writing to inform you that you are in danger of losing your adminship on Commons because of inactivity.
If you want to keep your adminship, you need both to sign at Commons:Administrators/Inactivity section/Feb-Mar 2016 within 30 days of today's date, and also to make at least five further admin actions in the following six months. Anyone who does not do so will automatically lose administrator rights.
You can read the de-admin policy at Commons:Administrators/De-adminship.

Generosity Crowdfunding Campaign for User:The Photographer[edit]
Please excuse me spamming you, which concerns Generosity Crowdfunding Campaign. My contributions cover the architecture and culture of Brazil and Venezuela. I has basic photographic equipment: an old D300 camera and 35mm lens, and it is very expensive for me to acquire this equipment. I has recently taken several images using the technique where multiple frames are stitched together to create a high-resolution panorama. However, many times frustrated with the stitching errors that result from trying to take such photos without a proper panoramic head for his tripod. This special equipment permits the camera to be rotated around the entrance pupil of the lens, and eliminates such errors. Having a panoramic head would greatly increase the potential for The Photographer to create sharp high-resolution images for Commons. In addition, the purchase of a camera with a fisheye lens would enable 180 × 360° panoramas to be taken, which are a great way to explore a scene as though one is really there.
Please see the discussion about the Crowd-funding campaign on User talk:The Photographer#Generosity Crowdfunding Campaign and visit the Generosity Crowd-funding Campaign page to consider donating. Even a modest donation will make a difference if many people contribute. Thanks. --The Photographer 13:51, 23 November 2016 (UTC)

Account creator[edit]
Hi! I see that you have given yourself the account creator group. It is not a big deal if you want to keep it, but the admin right you have already has the rights that the account creator has, so it doesn't change anything to add it. That makes sense to be done to non-admin accounts. It is not a request to remove it; I just wanted to inform you that. Regards.—Teles «Talk to me ˱C L @ S˲» 21:02, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info. I thought I tested making an account before I added the right, and it was rejected by the IP cap. But maybe that was on en-wiki, so maybe I could have just switched over. In any case, the editathon has now finished, so I will remove this. --99of9 (talk) 22:32, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
Category:Science in Australia and others[edit]
Hi :-)
You have moved some categories (Science in Australia, Science in Austria, Science in Georgia, Science in Germany, Science in New Zealand, Science in Russia, Science in Ukraine, Technology in Australia, Technology in Austria, Vehicles in the Soviet Union), but they are not empty... The sub-categories can't be moved automatically, because they depend on templates. Can you fix it, please? Thanks in advance :-) Wieralee (talk) 20:41, 23 February 2017 (UTC)
- These were rearranged years ago (not all were me actually). The new issue has arisen because @Joshbaumgartner: has used some fancy script in his Template:Aviation in country, that can't distinguish soft category redirects from real categories. So I think your question might be better for him. I'm happy to host the discussion here if it helps. One approach would be to make the templates even fancier. Another would be to subst the categories as they are now, so they could then be manually modified. --99of9 (talk) 01:16, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
- My apologies for any confusion sown. It was unintended, thanks for bringing it to my attention. I believe I have fixed the template for now to simply go to Science and Technology of Foo. I didn't look deep enough and realize the individual science and technology cats were all redirects. On that note, I see that Category:Science and technology has a CFD to split into two, which I think makes a lot of sense. If that happens I can easily restore my template to go to them separately again. Also, my skills are limited, so I'd love to hear of the best way to have your script distinguish between redirects and real cats. Josh (talk) 07:41, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
- @Joshbaumgartner: Some work is done, but one error causes another... The science categories are fixed, but your editions caused problems in other places: Category:Air transport in Antigua and Barbuda Category:Air transport in Bangladesh Category:Air transport in Cameroon Category:Air transport in Canada Category:Air transport in Cape Verde Category:Air transport in Costa Rica Category:Air transport in the Bahamas Category:Air transport in the Cook Islands...
- I don't like templates for automatical categorization, especially when there are many categories inside one template... Wieralee (talk) 11:11, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
Sydney Household Median Income[edit]
Hi Toby,
I'm a researcher in the University of Warwick (UK) where we are doing a study of the median income of several cities. I've come across this map you uploaded in wikimedia. I've really tried to get the raw data for this indicated in the source information, but it has been impossible for me to find it. I've already registered in the Australia Bureau of Statistics website to access DataPacks and downloaded several files, but I cannot find this field 115 "Median total household income weekly" at SA1 level. Could you please tell me more specifically where to find it?
Thank you very much for your time.
Mario. —Preceding unsigned comment was added by 137.205.11.12 (talk) 19:24, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Mario. When I log in to datapacks, I get to this page, which has a couple of dropdowns, and a whole lot of download arrows. On the dropdown I choose Basic Community Profile, with long headers. Since this is Sydney, I choose the relevant state, NSW, and the coarse graining level of SA1 (Statistical Area 1). That downloads a file called 2011_BCP_SA1_for_NSW_long-header.zip. Opening that, I go into the metadata subdirectory, and find the row labelled B115, which refers to "Median_total_household_income_weekly", and says I can find it in data pack file B02. So then I go out of metadata, and into the subdirectory called 2011_BC_SA1_..., and open the file called 2011Census_B02_NSW_SA1_long.csv, and "Median_total_household_income_weekly" turns out to be in column H. Sorry it's all so convoluted - I would have loved to be able to supply a direct link, but because it's behind a login wall, I couldn't. Hope this works for you! --99of9 (talk) 00:30, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
Ok, I've already found it. The problem was I was looking at the B28 csv file, which referred also to the income, instead of the B02. Thank you so much, Toby!
Hi Toby, I'm not sure if this the right place to post, but if not, I'll try adding a new section. Anyway, I'm an engineering student and I'm interested in learning how you created this graphic. I would greatly appreciate it if you could share your method, or the programs you used to create this. Thanks in advance, --DeepbIue7 (talk) 03:15, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
- @DeepbIue7: I'm sure there are easier ways using GIS software, but since I was doing so many at once, and wanted to automate them all, I downloaded the raw data from the ABS, and the shapefiles, and wrote a program in C to get them exactly the way I wanted. Do you have something specific in mind that you want to investigate? I'm happy to share some code, but I'd warn that it is not particularly well documented, and was very specific to the data I was reading. --99of9 (talk) 04:42, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
- @99of9: Nothing in particular; I just thought it was a neat way to represent data. I'm taking on a thesis project next year so I'm just gathering ideas and building my tool-set. If you're happy to share your code that would be great! On an unrelated note, as a novice user of wikimedia commons, is this the best way to communicate? --DeepbIue7 (talk) 04:09, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
- @DeepbIue7: The code is here on github. But as above, it will not work out of the box without setting up the directory structure and data as the code assumes. All the best for your project - if you generate any educational graphics, and are willing to share under an open license, we'd love to host them on Commons! Yes, this is a good way to communicate. --99of9 (talk) 04:25, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
Image found on the Cambodia Australians Page[edit]
Hi Toby
I have just found the map you created regarding data on the number of Cambodians living in NSW. I am looking for this exact map but for Victoria. Do you by chance have one?
Thank you for any help you can provide.

- Hi Rebecca. Is File:Australian_Census_2011_demographic_map_-_Victoria_by_POA_-_BCP_field_1255_Cambodia_Persons.svg what you want? Otherwise you could look around in this category: Category:Demographic_maps_of_people_born_in_Cambodia_in_Victoria. Unfortunately it's very concentrated around Melbourne, and I haven't yet done an expanded one centring on Melbourne only. --99of9 (talk) 06:31, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
Hi Toby,
Yes, it is. Thank you. I wondered if maybe we could have a quick call. I run a non-profit called Library For All. We have programs in Cambodia but we can't find enough books in Khmer to satisfy our readers. My plan is to engage with the Cambodian community in Australia and see if they can help. You seem to have mastered the data sets and I was wondering if I could pick your brain on a few things. my email is rebeccam at libraryforall.org. Please get in touch. Thank you for the links. Warmest Regards Rebecca
Your Providence Petrel images[edit]
Hi Toby,
I'm the editor of Wildlife Australia magazine, a 48-page full-colour wildlife conservation magazine published quarterly by the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland. I was wondering whether you might be generous enough to let us use one or two of your Pterodroma solandri images for an article we are running on repatriating Providence Petrels to Norfolk Island (from Lord Howe). As the magazine is not-for-profit, all of our articles and images are provided pro bono, but contributors receive a free copy of the issue. We run our photo credits on the page, alongside captions, so could certainly credit you.
If you think that is something you would be interested in, please get in touch with me at karincox@wildlife.org.au to confirm.
Best wishes, Karin Cox

Aviation images[edit]
Hi, I am not very Wikimedia-savvy. There are lots of images from Airliners.net on Wikimedia, but they have OTRS permission, I can't figure that out. I am writing (and improving) a couple aviation wikipedia articles, images from Airliners.net would be helpful but I can't figure out how to get permission to upload the images. You're an admin, so you probably know more about copyrights and such. Can you please uploadː
http://www.airliners.net/photo/Middle-East-Airlines-MEA/Vickers-754D-Viscount/1086921 (for Middle East Airlines 265) http://www.airliners.net/photo/Aerolineas-Argentinas/Douglas-DC-6/997178?qsp=eJwtjcEKwjAQRH9F9qwHETz0Vn9AD/7AsjvUYE3CZkFD6b83Dd4eM8ObhSRFx8%2BfNYMGKmCTFx0ps/Gn0LDQG/WbTBvTaBOih8jloHK6tllJ5rfaKmXHKILs0H9%2BN4XtFYp049Qezg1gj8502RUaSp65O%2BAcZlrXDRuwMfE%3D (for Aerolíneas Argentinas Flight 644)
It would be of much help, thank you. --PlanespotterA320 (talk) 22:45, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
- @PlanespotterA320: The reason those images have OTRS permission is that one of our editors asked for the photographers permission to license their pictures under a free license, and they were granted this permission. If the images you are interested in are not already marked as such, they are probably not freely licensed, so you will have to speak to the photographer before uploading them to commons. --99of9 (talk) 03:05, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
- I've tried to figure out the process, and can't seem to. Could you upload them and write to the photographers? Thank you.--PlanespotterA320 (talk) 13:25, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
- It goes in the other order. You get a license from the photographers, and then upload. Sorry, I'm not really interested in doing this for plane images. You might find more interest at Wikiproject Aviation, but really I think you can do the first job yourself... ask the photographers if they are willing to release their images under CC-BY-SA or a similar license. Once you've got their permission, we can help you with how to document that at OTRS. --99of9 (talk) 01:43, 26 March 2017 (UTC)

FYI, my bot tagged an image uploaded by your bot for not having a license template. As the content on the image page is "update" I presumed it was either updating a non-existent image or otherwise making a mistake with the file name. Either way I wanted to let you know. Best, Mifter (talk) 06:35, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Mifter: Your bot caught mine in the middle of a 2 step upload process, and by tagging, it scared my bot into not completing the second step. Here is an example of the normal process for creating a new ABS timeseries graph. The reason it does the first "update" step, is because many of these files already exist, so the best "edit summary" for them (without checking for existence in advance) is "update". But if it then finds that the entire text of the page is "update" (as yours did), it replaces that with the entire description. I'm not sure what the best solution is here, I'll have a think. When this has happened before, I've just deleted the tagged files, and re-created them in the next run. --99of9 (talk) 23:16, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
- I was doing some thinking and I was wondering if it would be possible for your bot to add something like en:Template:Underconstruction (or even a null/categorization template if that would work better) as a template to the first edit alongside its summary? I could then whitelist that template on my bot so it won't tag the first step of your uploads. Mifter (talk) 23:11, 3 April 2017 (UTC)
Your VFC installation method is deprecated[edit]
Hello 99of9, we are aware that using the old installation method of VFC (via common.js, which you are using) may not work reliably anymore and can break other scripts as well. A detailed explanation can be found here. Important: To prevent problems please remove the old VFC installation code from your common.js and instead enable the VFC gadget in your preferences. Thanks! --VFC devs (q) 16:24, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
Use of Leichhardt Town Hall Photo[edit]
Hi there Toby,
I think you may have taken this photo of Leichhardt Town Hall, I'm wondering if I can reproduce it for non commercial use? Hoping I can get in touch with you to put details by you and seek your permission.

Commons Conference project[edit]
Hello
I'm writing you as one of the most active Commons users right now. Since a while now, the idea of a dedicated Commons conference has been floating around. But since the last Wikimania concrete steps have been taken to actually make it happen next year. If you're interested in participation or maybe willing to help organize the first ever Commons Conference, I invite you to check out the project page and leave your comments; or just show your support for the idea, by signing up.
Cheers,

Hi Toby, I didn't really my initial photo upload had EXIF tags in it, and that these would be displayed. I've uploaded a new revision with no tags. Would you mind deleting the first rev (03:14) please? Editorial office of Kardas 5.jpg[edit]
@99of9: Hello, I have recently uploaded a lot of pictures about a prominent inter-war building in my country (Kaunas, Lithuania), however one of the pictures old version has a reflection of myself. It is a poor quality reflection, however with some editing it becomes more visible, but I want to keep my identity secret. I have already uploaded updated version of this picture and because its old version fits one of the deletion criteria (Inappropriate personal information) I would like to request such action from you. I am speaking about the first version of the https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Editorial_office_of_Kardas_5.jpg. -- Pofka (talk) 16:48, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
complicated file move[edit]
I saw your name at either wikidata books or wikidata taxonomy. This involves both and files here and at wikisource.
Names and sources and uses. I ran into "Flora Antarctica" plates with my "Botany of Antarctica". One name is from taxonomy and is a subset of a book.
I would like to delete my cropped version and upload it into their "Flora Antarctica" namespace and then move that to a name that includes the species.
File:Ranunculus pinguis-Botany of Antarctica-PL001.jpg <--deleted (mine)
File:Flora Antarctica Plate I.jpg renamed to File:Flora Antarctica-Plate I-Ranunculus pinguis.jpg which I can schedule myself, I think. But a look at my logic would be nice.
Also, I am waiting for a few of the wikisourcerers to ping back.--RaboKarbakian (talk) 23:45, 25 September 2018 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I really understand. I don't think you need to delete File:Ranunculus pinguis-Botany of Antarctica-PL001.jpg, just replace its usage if you think the other version is better. Your rename suggestion also seems wrong, because the current name is part of a series at Category:Flora_Antarctica_(Hooker). File names do not need to include the species. That is done with categories. Just treat the file name as a unique string. --99of9 (talk)
- The images both come from the same internet archive files. They are the same thing.
- See Category:Tales from Shakespeare. The publications are at the upper part and the chapters are appearing alphabetically. Some of the pubs are missing chapters. One of them was serialized in a magazine and they used one twice. It was complicated and interesting to work through those categories and their contents.
- Flora Antarctica and The Botany of the Voyage have the same relationship problems, only they are using the same original files.--RaboKarbakian (talk) 14:07, 26 September 2018 (UTC)

De-adminship warning (Aug 2019)[edit]
Dear 99of9. I am writing to inform you that you are in danger of losing your adminship on Commons because of inactivity.
If you want to keep your adminship, you need both to sign at Commons:Administrators/Inactivity section/Aug-Sep 2019 within 30 days of today's date, and also to make at least five further admin actions in the following six months. Anyone who does not do so will automatically lose administrator rights.
You can read the de-admin policy at Commons:Administrators/De-adminship. 4nn1l2 (talk) 01:33, 10 August 2019 (UTC)

Please participate in the Universal Code of Conduct consultation on Wikimedia Commons![edit]
Dear 99of9
Thank you for your hard work to create the sum of all knowledge that is freely sharable to every single human being across the world. As our diverse community grows, we need a guideline that will help all of our work collectively and constructively where everyone feels safe, welcomed, and part of a team. That is why the Wikimedia movement is working on establishing a global guideline called the Universal Code of Conduct, often referred to as UCoC.
After the months-long policy consultation, we have prepared a policy (available in many languages) that has been ratified by the Board of Trustees. We’re currently in the second phase of the process. During this round of consultation, we want to discuss the implementation of this policy. As a member of the functionary team of Wikimedia Commons, your opinion on enforcement is of great value. We want to hear from you on how this policy can be enforced on the Wikimedia Commons community and what might be needed to do so. There are a few enforcement questions so you can easily outline your answers based on them. Please do not hesitate to bring any more questions/challenges you think are not yet discussed.
The discussion is taking place on Commons:Universal Code of Conduct consultation. You can also share your thoughts by replying to this message (Please ping me so I get notified), posting your message on my talk page. I am aware that some thoughts cannot be expressed publicly, so you can always share your opinion by emailing me as well.
As a valued member of the Commons community, please share your thoughts, ideas, and experiences that relate to UCoC. Let us know what needs to be improved so we can build a more friendly and cooperative space to increase editor engagement and retention of new users.
Wikimedia projects are governed by you. So, it is you who needs to step up to ensure a safe, comfortable, and pleasant working environment.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you! Wikitanvir (WMF) (talk) 10:18, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
Please take a short survey regarding UCoC[edit]
Hello 99of9,
I would like to inform you that we now have a survey in place to take part in the UCoC consultation. It is not a long one and should take less than 10 minutes to complete. You can take the survey even if you have already participated in the on-wiki consultation. It has a different set of questions and allows you to participate anonymously and privately.
As a member of the Commons functionaries, your opinion is especially essential. Please click here to participate in the survey.
You are still welcome to participate in the on-wiki discussions. If you prefer you can have your say by sending me an email. You can also drop me an email if you want to have a one-to-one chat.
Thank you for your participation! Wikitanvir (WMF) 13:53, 12 February 2021 (UTC)
Code issues in User:99of9/common.js[edit]
Hi 99of9, I am a bored bot (this is kind of a computer program) that is watching the recent changes and tapping buttons like I did now.
Curious about the reason? Possibly not but I will tell you anyway:
- You edited User:99of9/common.js. Glad to see you coding in javascript! Have you ever considered becoming a MediaWiki hacker?
- Though, that change appears to introduce 1 new jshint issue — the page's status is now having warnings. Note that invalid or ambiguous code often has unwanted side effects like breaking other tools for you. If you cannot find out how to fix it, I suggest blanking the page for now.
- To help you understanding where the issues are, I have aggregated a report here and now. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask users experienced in javascript writing for help. But do not ask the bot's operators (chronically overwrought) unless you suspect an error of mine. If you prefer not getting spammed by me, you can opt-out reports by adding {{ValidationOptOut|type=all}} to your user page or cmb-opt-out anywhere on your your global user page on Meta. Good luck at Wikimedia Commons and happy hacking!
