Hi, and a warm welcome on commons. Please add the author and a copyright template to Image:Hondekop.jpg Permission to use is not enough. Please note, they need to agree on commercial use of this picture. Best would be PD, GNU FDL or on of the CC licenses. thanx --Paddy 19:23, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC)

It's not my car. It's actually owned by the father of a friend. He's one of those archetypical "rural older man". He keeps all his old cars because "it may be good to have for something". Apart from the 96 he also has two early SAAB 99s and a Volvo 120 slowly sinking into the ground as well as a few more more in more or less running order as well as a barn full with parts. It was good because I tried to find a steering mechanism to my old SAAB 99 he had two of them. Also have a look at http://coolcatcorp.com/millerauction/MillerAuction.html for some real barn finds. // Liftarn
If you like that picture you should have a look at http://www.samlaren.org/foto/foto3/foto07.htm it's from the famous old wrecking yard Åkes bilskrot in Kyrkö mosse. // Liftarn
A tip[edit]
Hey Martin, welcome to the Commons. Hope you like it enough to hang around.
Just thought I would give you a tip on linking to image description pages (rather than having the image show inline). You can do this by typing this:
[[:Image:Example.jpg]]
--> Image:Example.jpg . Providing a link often makes it much easier when you're talking about a specific image.
BTW regarding Category:Female genitalia, I think there is a lot more variety to be had. Although hair & piercings seem to be covered OK, we need women other than white women, older women (I think there are other problems if we ask for younger women :)), various states of the hymen, labia minora and majora, maybe before/after/during (!) childbirth, as well as general diseases (the male genitalia need this as well). Having this kind of variation is really important to reassure women that they are (more than likely) totally normal, and that most people don't have porn star plastic-surgeried genitals! Probably this is a concern for men as well, but I have an idea that in Western culture at least, there is more opportunity for men to discreetly compare themselves to other men (at the urinal). Women obviously do not have this chance. Anyway, this is really off-topic :) cheers!

Yes it would be in US dollars but Im not sure exactly which map you mean as Ive done a few GDP world maps. this one? Astrokey44 13:22, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your nice words :) Would it be ok to add just a $ sign? I don't like putting too much English text on these maps because it doesn't make sense on the other language wikipedias. The information is in the caption that it is US dollars Astrokey44 14:24, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

for your canal rubble blocking defense picture[edit]
Put the interwikis in the side bar as Arnomane suggested. There doesn't seem to be a lot of agreement on which method you should use. -Mak 17:37, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Makthorpe, thanks for your reply on the interwikilink issue. Do I understand coorectly that it would be OK to put a link in the side bar to the most relevant article (in the Wikipedia of a given language) plus a link in the description section of the image itself? In the Image:Plofsluis.jpg example, we now have side bar links to the articles on the canal where this funny contracption is located (English and German), and on the defence system of which it is part (Dutch). It's quite OK with me, I'd be happy to add those links when uploading a picture. It's just a matter of how to ad to the usefulness of the picture. Best regards, MartinD 09:00, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- Well, it's OK in the sense that it is not against any stated policy. However, some people DO feel it is not best practice. Others recommend it (Arnomane for example in the VP thread you commented on). It is not likely it will get reverted, so if you like the way sidebar links look, then use that. If you prefer the language bar method I put in, use that. Both have advantages and disadvantages. Good luck. -Mak 15:42, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Feyenoord[edit]

Tip: Categorizing images[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
- [[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
- [[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
- [[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT (talk) 06:10, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Jesuit Missions of the Chiquitos[edit]
Hi! Since I cannot edit on the Dutch wikipedia (no access from mobile ip...), I ask you for a little help. On Jezuïetenmissies van de Chiquitos, the caption on the second picture ("Interieur missiekerk van Concepción") is wrong. The picture shows the interior of the church in San Javier (=San Francisco Javier). Could you fix this? I already had the picture renamed some time ago on commons since it had a wrong filename (with "Concepcion") which caused the confusion. Thanks! bamse (talk) 20:31, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Bamse, will do. Do I understand correctly that the point is that the town is called San Javier, and that the correct caption would be "Interior of mission church of San Javier"? Does this also apprly to the third picture, now captioned "detail of mission church of Conception", so that this hould read "detail of mission church of San Javier"? (See current version of Dutch Wikipedia article.) Best regards, MartinD (talk) 15:40, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- Exactly, the second picture should get the caption "Interieur missiekerk van San Javier" ("Interior of mission church of San Javier") because it shows the church in the town San Javier (which is an hour's drive or so from the town Concepción). The third picture is correctly labeled as is ("Detail missiekerk van Concepción"). No change necessary there. You might want to change "Detail" to something more specific though. As you can see from this picture, the "Detail" is a retablo on the altar of the church in Concepción. Thanks for fixing the caption. bamse (talk) 16:17, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. I hadn't understood that the pictures showed two different churches, in two different towns. But then again, Bolivia isn't exactly next door to where I live.;) Would it be OK to caption the first picture "Interior of missioncurch of San Javier" (in Dutch, of course) and the second picture "Retablo in mission church of Conception"? I can add a link to "retable", it has an article on the Dutch Wikipedia. Best regards, MartinD (talk) 14:07, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, the captions you suggest are perfectly fine. I gave the last picture here the caption Retablo on the altar in the church of Concepción to express that it is part of the altar, but this caption reads a bit cumbersome. Just go with your suggestions. Main point is anyway the caption of the other picture. Regards and thanks. bamse (talk) 16:42, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

- Hi Bamse, I've just changed the captions as per the above. If anything else should be changed, just let me know. Best regards, MartinD (talk) 15:09, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for changing the captions. Now that you are asking, I red the whole thing and noticed some more issues. Very sorry to bother you again with this article. The village name, at least in Spanish is: San Miguel (with a "g" not "q"). San Miguel, Santa Ana and San Rafael are often distinguished from other towns of the same name by adding "de Velasco" (after the province in which they are located) to the name, so you might want to add those, i.e. "San Miguel" -> "San Miguel de Velasco", etc. The film "The Mission" is not about these missions. It is about Jesuit missions in Paraguay (of the Guarani indians if I remember correctly). You could change the sentence to something like: "De film 'The Mission' uit 1986 met Robert de Niro en Jeremy Irons welke in Paraguay speelt, geeft een beeld van de missiewerk van de Jezuieten in de 17de eeuw in Zuidamerika." (Can you figure out my Dutch? :-) )
- Otherwise the article seems more or less ok. It gives a bit of a simplified view by suggesting that the Indians joined the missions because they were fascinated by the "ideale samenleving". Protection from slave traders and other factors probably also played a role there. PS: I noticed a missunderstanding after reading your "Toelichting bij wijziging onderschriften afbeeldingen" on the article's talk page. I did not mean to replace "altar" with "retablo". From what I understand about art (which is not much), there are many "retablo" on one "altar" The picture shows one of the "retablo". So I'd rather write "Detail of altar..." or "Retablo on altar..." in the caption to make clear where this painting/retablo is located. But that's just nit-picking so you might just as well leave it as is. :-) bamse (talk) 17:10, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Bamse, I've just changed the captions as per the above. If anything else should be changed, just let me know. Best regards, MartinD (talk) 15:09, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
Hi Bamse, I made a few changed as you asked. One question: is the name of the province "Velasco" or "José Miguel de Velasco" (as nl:Santa Cruz (departement) says)? Your Dutch is quite good, where did you pick it up? Best regards, MartinD (talk) 12:15, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Looks good, thanks for the changes. The province is called "José Miguel de Velasco" but after town names it is shortened to just "Velasco", so "Santa Ana de Velasco" etc. PS: Thanks for the compliments, I picked up some Dutch living four years in Holland, but that's already some time ago so don't remember much. bamse (talk) 12:33, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- One more thing: In the present version it looks as if the movie has little or no connection to the Chiquitos missions so the sentence might be deleted one day. (The Chiquitos missions were part of the Viceroyalty of Peru and not Paraguay.) Maybe it could be modified to say that the situation in the Chiquitos missions was similar to that depicted in the movie. bamse (talk) 12:40, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Multichill (talk) 12:23, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- Hoi Multichill, is OK. Groet, MartinD (talk) 12:34, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Multichill (talk) 13:30, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Multichill (talk) 14:18, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
MartinD (talk) 14:25, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Multichill (talk) 14:36, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Kees Recourt (talk) 18:10, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Schiphol Airport area photo requests[edit]
If you are interested, would you mind taking some photos around Schiphol Airport? They are:
- KLM cityhopper head office: Schiphol Oost, 1117 ZL Amsterdam, Netherlands
- Transavia.com head office - Piet Guilonardweg 15: TransPort Building - 1117 EE Schiphol Airport PO Box 7777, 1118 ZM Schiphol Airport (NL)
- SkyTeam head office - World Trade Center Schiphol Airport Schiphol Boulevard 105 1118 BG Schiphol The Netherlands
- Martinair head office - Martinair HQ Postbus 7507 1118 ZG Schiphol Airport
Thanks, WhisperToMe (talk) 12:54, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- Hi WhisperToMe, I'll put it on my todo-list. Please allow me some time, however. On the other hand, as far as I can see these buildings are just ordinary office buildings, with no particular architectural value. ;) Best regards, MartinD 14:57, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- Please take your time. When you have taken the photographs, please let me know :) WhisperToMe (talk) 10:10, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
- I'll drop you a line. In the meantime, do you have a more specific address of KLM Cityhopper? "Schiphol-Oost" covers rather a large area (about 500 x 500 meter, according to the map). They might not have a separate headquarters: they're a subsidiairy of KLM, covering the short-haul routes. SkyTeam's address might also prove a bit elusive: the Schiphol WTC is a building of some 200 meter, I would guess, used by a lot of companies. Best regards, MartinD (talk) 19:20, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
- Well, I'll see what I can find. At "Sale Shop@KLM General Terms and Conditions" - I found a second KLM visiting address at "Stationsplein N.O. 133 1117 BV Schiphol Oost The Netherlands " - But I'm not sure if that has Cityhopper offices or not. WhisperToMe (talk) 01:56, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
- This Goliath page says that Cityhopper is at "Stationsplein 102, Convair Geb, Schiphol Airport, NL-1117 CH, Netherlands" WhisperToMe (talk) 02:04, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
- For WTC Schiphol I would prefer a frontal view of the building, with the sign saying "World Trade Center Schiphol." This Google maps image shows the position of the sign WhisperToMe (talk) 03:04, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

- Doing some Google maps searches that I did to try to find the cityhopper building, I found a lovely building called "KLM Health Services" along Stationsplein Zuidwest. This Google map shows its position - I think that would make a great photo for the Commons - building has KLM Inflight Services and some other department that I can't read on the building. There's also the KLM Jet Center - that appears to be the commuter terminal - If you want, see if you can get a shot of the Schiphol Group Main building - http://www.wtcschiphol.nl/assets/routediscription.pdf shows where that is in relation to other schiphol buildings
- WhisperToMe (talk) 01:58, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
Hi WhisperToMe, I managed to take a number of pictures, please see the latest additions to my user page. Martinair and Transavia are in the same building (not really a surprise, as they are both KLM subsidiairies) so they have the same picture. SkyTeam is somewhere in the WTC, but I couldn't find out where exactly. But the picture does show "WTC Schiphol".;) I'm afraid the weather was not that good, but in February in the Netherlands it rarely is. Nevertheless, I trust you will find these pictures helpful. Best regards, MartinD (talk) 10:16, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for taking these photos! They will be very helpful in articles about Schiphol Airport! I am now going to add them to the various Wikipedia articles! WhisperToMe (talk) 17:38, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
Okay, I added the Schiphol photos to various articles across the Wikipedias. Anyway, I found that there's another place at Schiphol that needs a photo - Arkefly's head office, however, is at "Schiphol-Rijk"
- "ArkeFly Beech Avenue 43 1119 RA Schiphol-Rijk Postbus 75607 1118 ZR Schiphol-Triport "
If/when you decide to take the photo, please let me know Thank you, WhisperToMe (talk) 18:23, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
- I've made a note of the address, should be doable, I'll let you know when I have uploaded this pic. Best regards, MartinD (talk) 11:20, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
- Alrighty :) WhisperToMe (talk) 20:58, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
- Some news - I did some research on Martinair and Transavia. They moved into Transport relatively recently, and that building won some environmental awards. I'm glad we have a photo of it! Anyway, I got the addresses of the old head offices of the airlines.
- Martinair: Havenmeesterweg 201 1118 CD Schiphol Centrum (in English it is named Schiphol Center) The Netherlands
- Transavia.com: Westelijke Randweg 3, building Triport III 1118 CR Schiphol Airport
I'm not sure if markings are still on the building, but when you go to get Arkefly, it might be worthwhile to see what is on those two buildings WhisperToMe (talk) 07:24, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
- I think I know where those buildings are. The old Martinair head office is close to the main freight terminal, Transavia was next door to Martinair, but apparently has been in the Triport building for some time. I'll take a look, but I don;t think those buildings can be described in more flattering terms than "just office buildings". Beech Avenue is in Schiphol-Rijk, a cluster of office buildings (and a hotel) just to the south-east of the airport itself. I'll get back to you as soon as I have managed to visit the sites. Best regards, MartinD (talk) 18:43, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
- Alrighty :) WhisperToMe (talk) 03:27, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
If you don't mind adding a few more items:
- Amsterdam Airlines is at: Het Poortgebouw Beech Avenue 54-80 1119 PW Schiphol-Rijk The Netherlands
- Building 70 at the northeast corner of the airport - located here - Its significance is that it was where NLM Cityhopper and later KLM Cityhopper were housed - Now it has Martinair Holland markings
WhisperToMe (talk) 22:31, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- I'll take a look, but it's raining now, the weather forecast for the next days is awful, and it's just under an hour by bike.;) Best regards, MartinD (talk) 13:37, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
- Okay. I hope the weather clears up soon... WhisperToMe (talk) 02:41, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
Question about KLM Cityhopper building[edit]
Do you know if the CityHopper building (Convair Building) was formerly known as "Building 70"?
During the beginning of KLM Cityhopper, its HQ was in Building 70:
- "World Airline Directory." Flight International. 27 March-2 April 1991. 98. "Head Office: Building 70, PO Box 7700, 1117 ZL Schiphol Airport (East), The Netherlands."
What's funny is that the building that the Cityhopper address pointed to is only indicated in the Dutch version of a KLM form:
- "Contact." (English) KLM. - "KLM Recruitment Services (SPL/GO) PO Box 7700 1117 ZL Schiphol The Netherlands "
- "Contact." (Dutch) KLM. - "KLM Recruitment Services (SPL/GO) Stationsplein 102 (Convair Building) 1117 BV Schiphol-Oost "
So, is the Convair Building the same thing as Building 70? If so, it seems like KLM Cityhopper has been in the same building since its founding...
- Hmmm, Wikimapia says that the Convair Building is Building 102...
Okay, I just found the answer to my own question. Building 70 can't be the Convair Building because development on the Convair Building didn't begin until the late 1990s. I wonder where Building 70 is...
WhisperToMe (talk) 21:34, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks to Wikimapia, I found it here - It's very plain... WhisperToMe (talk) 22:11, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
Uploaded 4 pics[edit]
Hi WhisperToMe, the weather was much better this weekend.;) I have uploaded four pics, please see my user page. As to the Amsterdam Airlines building: this should be the correct address, but I couldn't find their name on it. As to the ArkeFly building: it didn't have their name on it, but the small orange sign to the right of the picture says this is the one. (As the sign said ArkeFly and not Arkefly, I've used this in the filename.) As to the former Martinair office: I'm fairly certain this is the building, but it didn't have the Martinair name on it anymore. As to Building 70: it has been pulled down, probably pretty recently. Best regards, MartinD (talk) 13:31, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking the photos, MartinD! Now I am going to add them to Wikipedia articles - It's too bad that Building 70 is gone, but thank you for getting the rest of them! WhisperToMe (talk) 22:51, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
BTW, what is the item depicted in File:Startschacht Scheldeplein, februari 2011.jpg? The file description is in Dutch... WhisperToMe (talk) 23:01, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not a civil engineer, but it's something to do with the machine that is now digging a tunnel for the new metro line in Amsterdam, see nl:Noord/Zuidlijn (unfortunately in Dutch) and Category:North/South Line. If I had to make a guess, this marks the beginning of the two tunnels that are being dug from the Central Station to South Station. Delays to date: ginormous. Cost overruns: you don't want to know. Nobody wants to know. Nobody knows, actually. Several billions of euro's at the very least. Cheers, MartinD (talk) 14:02, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Kamal Abbas.jpg[edit]
I was wondering if you could give you opinion on the picture nomination to be a featured picture. -- The Egyptian Liberal (talk) 16:20, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. But why is the picture on the English Wikipedia instead of on Commons? MartinD (talk) 14:55, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
File:Kapsalon_Amstelveen.jpg[edit]
Inderdaad erg lekker! Groet, MartinD (talk) 06:34, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
Foto Arnhem Bedstee[edit]
Hai Martin,
Vriendelijke groet, Bas Enters

Hello, MartinD!
If you want to go back to Schiphol to take more photos, I found more:
- The regional Europe HQ of Nippon Cargo Airlines: Vrachtstation 5, Pelikaanweg 47,1118DT,Luchthaven Schiphol, The Netherlands
- Correndon Dutch Airlines HQ - Singaporestraat 82 1175 RA LIJNDEN Map
If you are interested in taking them, please let me know! Thanks, WhisperToMe (talk) 09:36, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
- Hi WhisperToMe, no problem if you are willing to give me some time to find a slot in my spare time. ;) Regards, MartinD (talk) 06:49, 18 February 2012 (UTC)
- That's fine :) - Whenever it's convenient, it's fine WhisperToMe (talk) 07:18, 18 February 2012 (UTC)
- Hi WhisperToMe, I have just uploaded a picture of the Corendon office, see File:Corendon office Lijnden.jpg. As to the office of Nippon Cargo Airline: I think it is at the cargo platform of Schiphol airport, and not visible from a public road. I did find a building of a company called Nippon Express, but I think they are a road haulage company. Anyway, one more airline company headquarters covered! Regards, MartinD (talk) 08:58, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you so much, MartinD! It's really helpful! WhisperToMe (talk) 13:57, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

Comment on Schiphol building[edit]
Hi, Martin! I found an anonymous user left a comment here about one photo, saying it was a former Transavia building, not a former Martinair building WhisperToMe (talk) 07:50, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hi WhisperToMe, I'm afraid this anonymous user might be correct. A number of years ago Martinair and Transavia had buildings next to each other. Additionally, ownership of these companies was, to some extent, in the same hands. This pic [2] seems to suggest that the Martinair building is not the one shown in my picture. So, it looks like I've mixed up the two buildings. My apologies! Best regards, MartinD (talk) 15:05, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification! Did you get the adjacent buildings? WhisperToMe (talk) 07:57, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
- I'm afraid not, the one that is probably the correct one is even more boring. ;) I'll add it to my to-do list. Best regards, MartinD (talk) 20:39, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hi WHisperToMe, my apologies for having taken so long. I've been to Schiphol twice since January but was in a hurry to catch a plane (and it was at 4.30 AM or so). Yesterday I had time to take a look, but I'm afraid that the building I have linked above has been demolished. On this spot there is now the new baggage handling centre. On the other side (to the northwest of what is now called the Transview building) is a building from where catering trucks depart, on the ground floor, and 7 stories of what probably are offices. I can upload a photo, but at it is likely not to be a picture of any former Martinair office... Best regards, MartinD (talk) 18:59, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

File:Demo Lisbon 15 March 2013.jpg[edit]
I´ve added a portuguese description and a translation of portuguese to english of the depicted poster, as you requested. Hope it helped. Tm (talk) 15:22, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
- Your welcome. I just made a little correction to the text as i initially misread it as "Recusai a mentir ao roubo e o crime que nos querem obrigar a aceitar. Agora todos os dias são de luta." instead of the correct one "Recusai a mentira, o roubo e o crime que nos querem obrigar a aceitar. Agora todos os dias são de luta.". Translated to english (and in bold the corrections) it reads now "Refuse the lie, the theft and crime that they want to force us to accept. Now all the days are days of struggle." instead of "Refuse to lie to the theft and crime that they want to force us to accept. Now all the days are days of struggle." Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2015 is open![edit]
You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2015 Picture of the Year contest.
Dear MartinD,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2015 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the tenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2015) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1322 candidate images. There are 56 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category. In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 2 will end on 28 May 2016, 23:59:59 UTC.
Thanks,
-- Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee 09:45, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
