Why is my completion status not updated?

There is an audit process for every final-year student's academic record. Upon completion of the audit process, the university will issue you with a confirmation of completion of your qualification together with an official statement of results. If, by 31 March 2024, you have not received any information regarding the completion of your qualification, please send an e-mail to DSAR-FIAudit@unisa.ac.za 


When can I expect my certificate?

Students will receive their certificates on the day of their graduation ceremony. Certificates for one and two-year qualifications will be available on the day/after the graduation day. Students who graduate in absentia will be informed via e-mail and SMS of when and where to collect their certificates. 


I have not received my certificate

Please enquire about your certificate by sending an e-mail to gaudeamus@unisa.ac.za 

Unisa no longer sends certificates by post or courier. Certificates are kept at our office in Pretoria and are not left at any regional office.
You are welcome to collect or arrange for a courier to collect the certificate on your behalf and at your own risk. We are situated at the Muckleneuk Campus, Preller Street, OR Tambo building, floor 5, room 12. Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 12:00.

We require the following documents:

  • Permission letter that includes the full names and surnames of both parties and ID numbers
  • Certified ID copies of both parties
  • Original ID for the person collecting


Will I be able to attend a graduation ceremony?

Only students for degrees and diplomas will be invited to attend a graduation ceremony All one and two-year qualifications are awarded in absentia. Certificates will be available for collection after the conferment date. Students will be informed via e-mail and SMS when and where to collect their certificates.

When will the actual graduations for 2024 take place?

The Autumn graduations will take place from April to May 2024 and will be held at the following regions: Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, Mbombela, Polokwane, East London and Bloemfontein. Spring graduations will take place from August to September 2024 at the following regions: Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Bloemfontein, East London, Polokwane and Mbombela.
