Short Biography:

Mr Gert Jonker is a lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering, College of Science, Engineering and Technology (CSET), University of South Africa (UNISA). He received his M Dip Tech in Electrical Engineering from the Pretoria Technikon  in 2007. He was employed as a director for Process Instrumentation at Witwatersrand Technikon, University of the Witwatersrand from 2007 until June 2012. He then began in industry companies Klockner Moeller, CBI and Eaton. He has been at UNISA since 2015, lecturing in the Process Control field.

Mr Jonker has over 20 years of experience within the instrumentation, Process Control and Automation field. Upon achieving a masters diploma in Technikon Pretoria and further recognized as the best engineering student by the Federation of Municipal Workers Organization, he then pursued a career as a learner technician with ISCOR, one of the well known automation businesses in South Africa, progressing to master technician, lecturer at Witwatersrand Technikon and Associate director in the field of Instrumentation and Process Control. 

During his industrial and academic career he was personally involved in a large variety of industrial engineering control related projects, as well as curriculum developments, publications, handbooks and standards development for the South African Bureau of Standards.

He has instructed and consulted on PLCs and Profibus for the last 15 years and has received excellent reviews from his presentation which distinguished him as an excellent presenter in a workshop in the UK. He enjoys passing his knowledge to University students, Technicians and Engineers in the field of Process Control, especially practical hands on workshops, which are his main focus.
