Biography:

Makopola William Matlou was born in Pretoria, RSA. He received the National Diploma in mechanical engineering from Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in 2002.Furthermore he received his B-Tech degree in mechanical engineering from the University of South Africa (UNISA) in 2015.He furthered his studies at UNISA by registering M-Tech degree in 2018. Mr. MW Matlou is an engineer and obtained his Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) from the department of labor.

He joined the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) at Tshwane TVET college as a mechanical lecturer in 2005. In 2018 he continued his career as a postgraduate assistant at UNISA and joined the department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering under the College of Science and Technology. In 2021, he furthered his project as a junior researcher and his current research interests include friction stir welding (FSW), corrosion studies on friction stir welded joints and friction stir welding on similar and dissimilar aluminum grades. Conference papers and journals are prepared and underway. He is currently operating the friction stir welding machine (VM-30) at UNISA and doing the experimental analysis from the machine. Mr. Matlou is currently writing up his thesis and hoping to finish this year.
