Biography:
Ronny Thapelo Tebeta was born in Rooiwal Village in Limpopo Province of South Africa. In addition, being awarded the 2020 University of Johannesburg (UJ) Chancellor’s medal Prestigious Award in the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment for most meritorious master’s study, Ronny Is also a PhD student at UJ in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Science. He completed his grade 12 at Matsogella Senior Secondary School. Ronny was awarded a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Science (BEng) degree in 2018 by the University of Johannesburg and continued for his master’s degree (MEng in Mechanical Engineering Science), which he completed with high distinction in 2019 under the supervision of Prof N.A. Ahmed and Prof A.M. Fattahi. Being a top academic achiever, Thapelo was also awarded the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung (scholarship) for an exchange programme to study Automotive System Engineering and Industrial Robotics at the Heilbronn University of Applied Science in Germany. Ronny ‘s research expertise comprises polymer-based nanocomposites processing techniques, development of nanocomposites, characterisation and analysis of nanocomposites and nanoparticles. He is currently working on various projects such as Analysis of reinforced Polymers Under Thermo-Mechanical Loads, the Development and design of polymer-based wind turbines, and the development of natural reinforcing fibres and adhesives. He is also a founder and a member of Mapela Youth Development at his local community in the Ga-Mapela community in Limpopo.
