This course in Employee Wellness is divided into these three parts:
Part 1
Introduces basic concepts such as the competent human being, optimal functioning, wellness and the importance of a balanced lifestyle. The objective in Part 1 is to familiarise you with the concepts that we will be learning more about during this course. In Part 1, you will learn what makes a person competent, how wellness at work and at home can be described, and why a balanced lifestyle is so important.
Part 2
Focuses on stress, burnout and factors that negatively affect employee wellness. The objective of Part 2 is to improve your understanding of stressors, both in terms of how they influence an employee in general and in terms of your own personal stressors. In Part 2, we shall also be discussing factors relating to burnout, and reflect on the effect that stressors and burnout has on people (including you).
Part 3
Examines alternative ways of handling everyday stressors, how to view and perceive optimal functioning and how to improve your personal wellbeing, both at work and in your private life. It examines how to use different perspectives of salutogenesis and positive psychology when attempting to function as a human being experiencing wellness.
