| Purpose: This module as part of the Postgraduate Diploma in Language Education aims to provide students with a thorough grounding in the relevant theories and research on first and second language acquisition, learning and teaching, and to explore conflicting viewpoints of the different theories. On completion of this module students should be able to use their advanced knowledge of language acquisition and learning theories and teaching to improve their own language education practices. Students will also be able to identify barriers to language learning and use their knowledge of language learning theories to suggest suitable teaching strategies to overcome these barriers. |
