Purpose: The purpose of the module is to introduce students to the specialised thinking and theorizing in the field of sociology of education, with a focus on schooling in South Africa and the United States. Facilitate the learning experience of students in their grasping and understanding of the development toward apartheid and post-apartheid education in South Africa, including periods of reform, transformation and policy matters affecting the education system.
