Purpose: This module's purpose is to provide students with the knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary to investigate, determine and assess the past, the current state of the people and the environment and future sustainability in Southern Africa. Through in-depth review of the region's current natural resources, population dynamics, and socio-economic growth, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the complex interrelationships shaping the environmental landscape. In addition, students will apply the knowledge gained through various Southern African real-world examples by selecting and suggesting appropriate interventions and strategies for implementation to reduce negative implications and promote sustainability.
