Purpose: Content: THEORETICAL COMPONENT The basic principles of community development with strong emphasis on participation and consultation. Stakeholders and structures that are central to development in the communities for consultation purposes. The principles of community development like empowerment, consultation, participation and transparency and respect through applying these in their work context. PRACTICAL COMPONENT: Evidence must show that students can conduct a situational analysis in terms of a student's ability to; Conduct assets mapping and identifying existing resources mobilise communities around issues of community development that benefit children and youth Use available resources to enable development practitioners to be effective in their work Demonstrate how community based structures can be used more effectively as safety nets for children and their potential for improved utilisation.
