Rules: It is a requirement for students who intend on registering for this qualification to be in possession of a completed recognised 4 year Professional Teaching qualification. The Honours BEd degree is not a professional teaching qualification. TRANSITIONAL ARRANGEMENTS: Students who have not passed HBEDTRD prior to 2011 but have already passed both specialisation modules have to enrol for HBEDTRD and either HBEDABH or HBEDWSL as part of the degree. NB: This qualification will not be recognised by the Department of Higher Education and Training should you NOT be in possession of a 4 year professional teaching qualification. |

Purpose statement: -To accredit candidates who demonstrate an understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of education; -To develop candidates' professional expertise in an aspect of the practices or study of education; -To provide candidates with a deeper understanding of some aspect of the professional practices, institutions and/or systems of education; -To empower candidates to achieve some critical distance from the fashionable and conventional practices and institutions of education; -To foster progressive thinking in the field of education by developing a cadre of educators with a wider and deeper understanding of the transformation of education. |

Each Unisa qualification is structured in such a way that you need to pass a certain number of NQF level credits within a certain amount of time in order to graduate.
Pre-requisite: If Module A is a pre-requisite for Module B, you must pass Module A before you may register for Module B.
You may not register for more than the allowed maximum number of credits / modules per academic year and / or semester: 60 credits per semester or 120 credits per academic year.
The maximum number of credits do not include supplementary and / or aegrotat examinations from a previous semester. Modules taken for non-degree / non-diploma purposes also count towards the maximum number of credits allowed.
