Purpose statement:
The primary purpose of the qualification is to provide Honours Bachelor of Commerce graduate level knowledge, specific skills and applied competence in a number of fields traditionally associated with Business, Commerce and Management that will prepare them to be lifelong learners, employable workers/managers, entrepreneurs and contributors to society and the business community. A second purpose of the qualification is to provide South Africa (and other countries) with graduates in a number of learning fields in order to ensure that the leadership base of innovative and knowledge based economic and scholarly activity is widened. A third purpose of the qualification is to provide South Africa (and other countries) with people who can understand the constructive role they need to play as intellectual economic leaders in their society and who are empowered to play that role.
Please note:
An appropriate NQF 7 qualification in the field of Accounting Sciences, from an accredited provider of higher education, with majors in Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Business Management and Taxation. A minimum mark of 55% in Management Accounting module at NQF level 7 is required for admission into the qualification.
1)All students who did not obtain a mark of 55% for Management Accounting at 3rd year level, but have received an average of 55% from all accounting-related 3rd year modules (Financial Accounting, Taxation and Auditing), be admitted into the Bachelor of Accounting Sciences Honours in Management Accounting (98354).
2)All students who do not meet both criteria (55% in Management Accounting or an average of 55% from accounting-related 3rd year modules) be admitted using RPL process.
Unsuccessful applicants may submit an appeal on the application portal at https://www.unisa.ac.za/sites/corporate/default/Apply-for-admission/Apply-for-admission-to-study:-application-tool
and will be required to provide a motivation for special admission. The motivation must incorporate the following:
* academic motivation offering evidence of your ability to study a postgraduate qualification,
* work experience relevant to the qualification and courses completed since graduating with a Bachelor's degree or Advanced Diploma.
These appeals will only be considered if the enrolment target of the qualification has not been met and/or additional enrolment spaces are available.
Applicants who do not meet the admission requirements as indicated above may apply for admission through recognition of prior learning (RPL) provided they meet the statutory admission requirements for undergraduate studies; are at least 23 years old with a minimum of five years' current, relevant working and research experience in line with the approved qualification's RPL requirements.
