Purpose statement:
The purpose of this qualification serves to deepen the students' knowledge and skills in the various areas of ornamental horticulture, landscaping and management.
Furthermore, this vocationally-orientated qualification will provide students with specialised knowledge and skills in the areas of greenhouse crop production using advanced techniques and integrated production management systems, sustainable landscapes in urban green space, landscape project and contract management, Green Industry business management, and conducting research.
Qualifying students will have a well-rounded knowledge base and specialised skills in:
Advanced greenhouse crop production, Sustainable landscapes in urban green space,
Landscape project and contract management, Green Industry business management, writing a horticultural research proposal.
Please note:
An Advanced Diploma in Ornamental and Landscape Horticulture (or equivalent or appropriate NQF 7 qualification) from an accredited provider of higher education with a minimum of 60% average for the majors, or a selected number of NQF 7 modules in the qualification,
or
applicants who do not meet the admission requirements as indicated above may apply for admission through recognition of prior learning (RPL) provided they are at least 30 years old with a minimum of five years' current, relevant working and research experience in line with the approved qualification's RPL requirements. The motivation must incorporate the following:
* academic motivation offering evidence of your ability to study a postgraduate qualification,
* work experience relevant to the qualification and courses completed since graduating with a Bachelor's degree or Advanced Diploma.
These appeals will only be considered if the enrolment target of the qualification has not been met and/or additional enrolment spaces are available.
Pay the application fee of R150 once you've received your student number.
