The Department of Life and Consumer Sciences consists of the Life Sciences division and the Consumer Science division which each run different undergraduate and post graduate programmes.
Life Sciences focus on disciplines such as animal physiology, biochemistry, botany, biology, microbiology and zoology whereas, Consumer Science concerns itself with a consumer or individual in terms of food, nutrition, clothing and textiles, consumer journalism and hospitality management by focussing on the health, behaviour, consumption, purchase, knowledge acquisition, skills management and decisions involved in being a consumer within different economic and social environments.
