The Department of Science and Technology Education at the University of South Africa (UNISA) is recognized as a Centre of Excellence. We are dedicated to advancing teaching, research, and engaged scholarship across disciplines such as Science Education, Education for Sustainable Development, Information Communication Technologies in Education, and Technology Education.

Our innovative curriculum prepares graduates to tackle 21st-century classroom challenges through hands-on learning, critical thinking, and technology integration. Our diverse team includes three NRF-rated professors and four NRF Thuthuka grant holders, underscoring our commitment to research excellence. We are actively involved in various NRF projects that further promote scientific innovation.

Key achievements include extensive publications in top-tier journals, the development of unique programs incorporating the latest technologies, and engaged scholarship initiatives that positively impact local schools. Our international collaborations enhance research and student exchange opportunities, while our faculty members have received numerous awards for their contributions.

We encourage students and colleagues to participate in outreach and collaboration initiatives, bridging academia with broader society. As we begin a new academic year, we invite everyone to engage actively in department activities, helping us advance science education and make a meaningful impact.
