SARCHi Research Chair, Welfare and Social Development

Vision | Niche Research focus areas | Research Chair Objectives | Higher degrees portfolio | News | Postgraduate supervision | Postdoctoral fellowship | Staff Members

This research chair is a response to the National Research Foundation (NRF)'s South African Research Chairs Initiative (SARChI), which was started by the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI), and calls for a "DSI-NRF Decadal Plan Aligned Research Chair." Accordingly, or in responding to that important call, this research chair is focused on “Welfare and Social Development in Informal Settlements”, aligned to the SARChI-directed area, Welfare, and Social Development in the discipline of religion. Among other things, the research chair works within the theoretical framework of Pentecostal theology, particularly the holistic Pentecostal salvation approach, to engage social welfare and social development from theological perspectives.
