Moses-Kotane West Maths and Science Intervention Project (RC NO. CN5000)
The project is led by Prof TI Mogashoa. The purpose of the project is to provide support and implement an intervention process in the Curricular issues of the teaching of Mathematics and Science at three identified schools at Moses-Kotane West Area (North West Province), which is a very rural area
The project is led by the following team members: Prof JS Maseko, Prof SP Mokoena, Dr A. Setlhako, Prof TI Mogashoa, Dr Gous - Kamper and Mr Setlatjile – Maishebe (Buro Marketing & Research). It comprises a multidisciplinary team of academics from across the 10 departments. Each department is responsible for its section of the instrument and for the analysis and interpretation of data. Each department will contribute to development of the proposed interventions in the second phase.
The objectives of the project are to obtain teachers, parents and school management teams’ perceptions of underperformance in schools, to obtain teachers and school management teams’ interpretations of the schools’ Annual National Assessment (ANA) results, to design intervention strategies as well as to contribute to the body of knowledge.
The project is operating at Mbudula Secondary School. The programmes include Reading and Writing of English as First Additional Language, Educational Leadership and Management, Assessment and Evaluation, Career Guidance and Counselling, Hygiene and Health, Curriculum Implementation and Management as well as Mathematics and Science Education.
