Themba Nkosi from Cell C, speaking under the See-Young initiative, motivated learners with stories of empowerment and highlighted Cell C’s 23-year commitment to youth support through bursaries and school bag donations. He encouraged learners not to let financial challenges deter them from realising their academic goals, assuring them that funding opportunities are available for those who work hard.

Throughout the day, learners participated in a variety of activities designed to simulate real workplace environments. They asked thoughtful questions, interacted with professionals and learnt about industries and careers they had not previously considered. Many were excited to discover the practical connections between academic subjects and real-world professions.

The event made a lasting impression on learners, igniting their curiosity and strengthening their motivation to pursue their studies with purpose and determination. It was an eye-opening experience that showcased the importance of education in building a successful future.

"This initiative is about more than just one day; it’s about sparking long-term dreams and showing learners that, with education and determination, anything is possible," said one of the organisers.

The event was a resounding success and a testament to Unisa’s commitment to community engagement, career development and the empowerment of South Africa’s youth.
