Communication and public relations students flocked to Polokwane Campus to participate in the COMSA colloquium

Unisa Communication Students’ Association (COMSA) recently hosted a Student Colloquium at the Polokwane Campus. The event, attended by approximately 60 communication and public relations students and representatives of employer organisations (specifically from the communication sections of such organisations), was aimed at creating a platform for students to engage with industry professionals. Interaction with industry professionals gave participants insights into various career opportunities to explore.

According to Bernard Cgina of COMSA, North Eastern Region, a colloquium of this nature also helps to bridge the gap between academic and real-world industry practice as it enables participants to make informed decisions.

Under the theme "Beyond the degree: Exploring Communication Careers", the event featured four renowned guest speakers who shared insights and their work experiences with students:

  • Moses Moreroa, Marketing and Communications Manager in the office of the Executive Director at the University of Limpopo
  • Maleshoane Banyana Letsoalo, SABC News Bulletin Writer/Presenter and Current Affairs Producer, Hlokwa La Tsela programme
  • Masedi Simon Ramafalo, Deputy Director, Research Centre, Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development
  • Rhulani Hlungwane, Marketing and Branding Officer, Lepelle Northern Water Board
