Inhlanyelo Hub has partnered with PE TVET College, Eastern Cape Midland TVET College, and the Unisa Regional Office in Gqeberha to bring this vision to life. The programme not only addresses the marginalisation of women in male-dominated trades but also seeks to create inclusive environments that support sustainable business growth. With guidance from seasoned business developers and advisors, participants will gain the tools and insights needed to turn their skills into successful enterprises.

On 19 July 2024, the various stakeholders met in Gqeberha to map the way forward.

Amogelang Marengwa, the Learning and Development Coordinator for the Bosadi Artisan Programme, highlighted the importance of considering the unique challenges faced by women in the industry. "We must think outside the box and be sensitive to the realities of young women –  often burdened with child care duties, exploitation, and stereotypes in a male-driven industry," Marengwa said.

Beyond fostering women-owned businesses, the programme aims to challenge stereotypes, build strong networks of women artisans, and create lasting change within the industry. The Inhlanyelo Hub Bosadi Artisan Entrepreneurship Development Programme is set to officially launch on 2 September 2024, marking a significant step toward addressing gender disparities in the artisan sector.

This pioneering initiative seeks to equip women artisans with the skills, mindset, and support needed to thrive as entrepreneurs, ultimately contributing to a more inclusive and equitable society in South Africa.
