Unisa publications garner peer accolades

The South African Publication Forum’s Corporate Publication Competition is now in its 20th year. The aim of the competition is to reward excellence in internal and external corporate communication media. The thorough feedback by expert judges also makes the competition an excellent training opportunity. In the region of 150 entries are received every year.

Unisa’s entries competed against very stiff competition, with the likes of Sanlam, Mediclinic, Pick ‘n Pay and the CSIR, to name but a few, having submitted entries. Most of the country’s major universities also participated. Three Unisa corporate publications, YOUNISA (Best external magazine category), Focus (Best newsletter category) and Impact (Best one-off publication category), advanced to the finalist stage, with YOUNISA named as second runner-up.

The publications Unisa entered also received certificates for excellence in communication, writing and design.

Said Nancy-Anne Anderson, Managing Editor in the Department of Institutional Advancement: "As always, the competition provided an excellent opportunity to benchmark Unisa’s corporate publications against the industry’s best. The feedback received from the adjudication panel is invaluable and serves to confirm what we have done well and guide us on where we can improve. The accolades speak of great teamwork and commitment. Especially during what has been a second consecutive disruptive year, the publications team managed to stay focused and continued to come up with creative ideas."
