The memorandum of understanding signed by the two Institutions was based on collaboration in several projects, including re-writing the African and African history, cultural heritage, and publishing an online encyclopaedia on the South African history.
According to Omar Badsha, Director of SAHO, who signed on behalf of his organisation, the partnership would open up opportunities for further collaboration between the two institutions to produce compatible disks and booklets for teachers; build links with galleries and artists in Africa and globally; and ultimately, develop a dynamic exhibition programme.
The late Prof Narend Baijnath alluded to the partnership with SAHO, as one of strategic nature which would create synergies to position the two institutions in Africa to play an important role in appreciating our own history and heritage.
The former Director, Kenneth Mubu, further highlighted other possible projects which would include the latest technologies in teaching history and popularisation of teaching history in schools.
