Purpose: Qualifying students will be able to explain basic information and technology systems including the digital disruption. Students will be able to outline the use of business applications of Microsoft tools, big data and systems to assist businesses to increase their productivity and users to perform specific tasks such as providing information for a detailed annual financial report. Students will also be able to explain the concepts of information technology by focusing on the components of communication networks, network configurations and the internet, intranets and extranets. Finally, students will be able to describe the threats, control, privacy, ethics and governance, cyber security and ethical risks associated with the use of computers in business in a computerised environment and the controls that should be in place to minimise these risks.
