Purpose: is to expose students to principles of quantitative methods needed for planning, analysis and interpretation of epidemiology research studies. Students will gain hands on experience of epidemiology research work. The skills acquired in this module will enable qualifying candidates to pursue advanced studies at Masrters level. Students who complete this course will be able to interpret disease frequency, measures of association and the effect; identify research questions to form hypotheses; critically evaluate the validity of epidemiology studies; understand the advantages of stratification and matching of statistics; plan and analyse data; and how to communicate research findings.
