Purpose: The purpose of the module (Numbers and Operations), is for students to develop a deeper understanding of the number concept and to use this knowledge to create learning environments in which learners can become problem solvers in the field of numbers. In this module, student will be introduced to Numeration Systems in order to form an appreciation of the Numeration System that is currently used globally. This module also investigates a variety of questioning techniques to involve learners in classroom discussions. The teaching of fractions, a problematic section of numbers, is unpacked and misconceptions are analysed.
