Purpose: The modern supply chain is characterised by complexity, dynamism and uncertainty of demand and supply. As a consequence, it is forever changing. It is desirable therefore to streamline and optimise the performance of the supply chains. In this regard productivity, customer service and the desire for continuous improvement are key. This module aims to embed managing of supply chain operations as an enabler to gain strategic advantage by ensuring that the processes and tools embedded within the value chains are efficient and effective in planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling of all the resources needed to meet stakeholder needs. In particular, the purpose of the module is to provide graduating candidates with capabilities, skills, competences and knowledge to be able to measure the reliability, performance, responsiveness, flexibility and costs of supply chains as they meet supply chain and organisational goals.
